Re: Francesc 'Tito' Vilanova: The Disciple
Thiago is like a Satan compared to Figo and the rest. He took absolutely everything from Barcelona to this day, and gave absolutely nothing. Barca invested 8 years to him, and just when he's starting to show some promise, and the things got "though" and the first chance he got, he leaves, like a unbelievable smug glory hunter he is.free_cat wrote:Harmonica wrote:Free, please go with your stupidity, I couldn't care less what your simple mind thinks about the matter.
My stupidity? My stupidity???! It can't get more stupid than saying utter rubbish like thiago is the biggest traitor ever for Barça. It's one of the most idiotic thing I've ever read in this forum and there are plenty.
What about figo going to Madrid after saying he would never leave?
Ronaldo leaving us for inter after agreeing a renewal?
Cesc, Pique, Canos and plenty of youngsters who leave Barça although they see plenty of game time in his age bracket, unlike thiago
Samitier to Madrid?
And your idol Rosell who was involved in the figo transfer professionally.
And a long etc.
Figo wasn't Barca youth, gave plenty joy and quality for Barcelona, and furthermore left by giving, what in today's money would be about 80-90M€ for Barcelona.

Comparing Thiago to Figo?! LOL
Give me a break. Thiago leaving is the clubs fault. Figo deserved his pig head...plain and simple
Seriously, we shouldn't disrespect Tito's thread like this. If you want to argue Thiago, take it to the Thiago thread

Harmonica keeps going from one disgrace to another. Comparing a Figo to Thiago? Where does it end? I suppose all the Barcelona fans were stupid then. What trash. I'm done tbh.

It isn't clubs fault, it's merit. They exposed Thiago, not having any thoughts for playing at and for Barcelona. Players like that only disrupts the team.windkick wrote:Comparing Thiago to Figo?! LOL

All the best to Tito! Fantastic person and from what I can tell quite a good coach.
All the players loved him and whatever he may have lacked, he made up for it with his love for the Blaugrana!

We will always wonder what he could have done with a full season.
I hope he recovers fully and who knows, maybe in some years time when he is completely cleared, he can go back to managing at top level.

Re: Francesc 'Tito' Vilanova: The Disciple
Not sure how I became the Tata specialist in the eyes of you guys
IIRC he uses predominantly a 4-3-3 with newell's. He arrived at NOB when they relegation candidates for the upcoming season and he made them champions and took them to the Libertadores semi-finals, where he missed out on penalties to Atletico Mineiro. His style is heavily influenced by Bielsa, as well as the traits he values in his players. He emphasizes the need for integrity and honesty. His team has been universally praised by both the players and the press for playing good football, a rarity in Argentina. I've read interviews where some of his players remark that they spend a significant amount of time practicing how to start the play from the back. On style I think he's a fit for us.
Here's a link to the libertadores match he won: http://forum.rojadirecta.es/showthread.php?198187-FUTBOL-Copa-Libertadores-SF-1-Newell%B4s-Old-Boys-v-Atletico-Mineiro-30-5-2013&highlight=copa+libertadores+2013
Still though, if we're going to to go for the "next best thing to Bielsa", why not go for Bielsa?

Many of the players said he was one of the best coaches they had been under, able to communicate his points and ideas very well and keep great harmony.
I also think tactically he was behind a lot of Pep's term. However the youth and rotation issues he may have needed to sort out.
Either way, I hope he makes a complete and full recovery! A great person and loyal servant.
I'm left with no idea who to hire now however...

I could be wrong, but I get a feeling the club want Bielsa without the borderline insanity.
And you know I say insanity in a nice way because im a big big fan. But I think the way he searches for perfection to the point of changing what may not to be changing, which may create mental and physical fatigue plus a level of inconsistency is something people really think about.
So a more mellow disciple of his could interest them in that way.
I wouldnt of been surprised if we were linked to Jorge Sampaoli if he wasnt coaching Chile.

Re: Francesc 'Tito' Vilanova: The Disciple
Dani I agree on not wanting to put up with bielsa's 'insanity'. Another point against him is his want of total control which I am sure tosell and zubi would not want to deal with, although that might be what is best for the club.
Another point that danyjr touched on is that Tata prefers experience at his club, and doesn't seem to promote many players. He let one of the most promising young left backs in the league leave for river at the beginning of the season. Not sure how he would do promoting players, but its worth noting that when he won the league with newell's as a player in the 80s his team was almost entirely home based.

I wouldnt mind the Dutchman.Experienced, tactically good, man for a crisis.Could be an excellent short term solution.

I have always been a fan of his. So of course I wouldn't mind but he seems to have gone a little downhill in the last few years. That said there is hardly any potential appointment that is really exciting me now. Some are downright atrocious while the others make you say to yourself let's give him a chance and see what he does. Tata sounds interesting while Enrique sounds safer. With the likes of Tata the problem is they could crash within weeks and be sacked leading to another coach search. Some other options sound safer though may not excite that much.
Re: Francesc 'Tito' Vilanova: The Disciple
Personally don't think hiddink fits our style.
Mundo deportivo reporting that tata will be the new coach after luis decided to honor his contract with celta.

I know its too late but I am in the group that says no to Hiddink. Think he is kind of overrated.
He is a great rescue mission with the underdog coach, but I am often unimpressed by him tactically and I find it odd he hasnt coached a real great offensive side full time any time recently.

Tbh I have a feeling that Pep is also insane, he just covers it up well and he's not to the insanity level of Bielsa. Of course he's also brilliant, like Bielsa.
Bielsa is just open with how insane he is, although yeah, he definitely takes his insanity to the next level compared to any other coach.
Being a fan of Bielsa though I have some positive thoughts on this appointment. Though again, I will wait till the end of the season to judge. I'm desperately hoping him being from Newell's will command Messi's respect rather than Messi thinking he can coach the team. If Tata gives Messi special treatment
Hoping he'll give all players the same treatment as Bielsa would.
Not a fan of Hiddink. Would only be a very short term appointment, anyway.

Re: Francesc 'Tito' Vilanova: The Disciple
I agree. I think Pep is "insane" in his pursuit to perfection, I imagine his training sessions have a similar level of detail and precision Bielsa would have.
Though I doubt Pep would have seperate training times for defenders, midfielders and attackers like Bielsa is known to do from time to time lol
His relationships with the media, communication with players and things of that nature are probably a key difference.

Surprised to hear this from you Alex. I disagree and even though he was my favourite coach (got Australia to the WC in 06 for the second time in history...) he isn't tactical brilliant. He wouldn't fit our system at all and his career has gone downhill since he left Australian shores. Even his spells in Europe before and after us were not that brilliant.
Tato is pretty much confirmed anyway and hoping the best for him. Hoping he can solve our pressing and defensive issues...

You are hinting that Tito didn't want to sign a CB to help his son's chances of making it at the first team?
I'm joking, but it wouldn't be preposterous to think that you are hinting that with how unfair you are with Tito...
Btw, his son is quite a promising CB, very tall, good ball skils and uncharacteristically for Barça youth, fantastic in the air. He has like 5 goals this season, most of them from corners.

Haha, no. That's not what I meant. But the Tito era was a complete defensive cluster*bleep* with everyone begging for a centerback. Now I just had to imagine that in a few years someone named "Vilanova" might be our saviour in that department. Found that quite ironic.
Also I'm not unfair to him. I'm just winding you up. Tito.
