Point of no return
Beginning in 2013-14, and through to 2016-17, Sky will pay €628 million per year to broadcast 1. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga games, an increase of 52 per cent relative to the current figure of €412m.
Bundesliga will compete financially as well with other leagues. Until now, they suffered a majour disadvantage regarding the income from TV money. If you combine youth development in every team with ever increasing cash from TV deals, expect a very strong Bundesliga in 3-5 years which would retain its talents.
Serie A should kiss good bye to 4th Cl place for a very looooooooooong time...

Bundesliga grows and grows...
goal.com
this makes the BL A LOT more competitive in Europe, though our teams from the first league still get less money than the EPL,Serie A and La Liga. But this will boost our league, imo.
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hailed the agreement that the DFL (German Football League) reached on Tuesday to increase television contract revenue.
Beginning in 2013-14, and through to 2016-17, Sky will pay €628 million per year to broadcast 1. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga games, an increase of 52 per cent relative to the current figure of €412m.
And according to Rummenigge, the boost in revenue - which will be distributed to the clubs in Germany's top two leagues - will see teams improve on the international stage in the years to come.
"The increase of the TV contract amount is a milestone in the history of the Bundesliga," the Bayern CEO said in a press release. "This is the result of the very positive development of the league in recent years.
"This increase is also a win for the clubs, who can continue to become more competitive in competitions like the Champions League and Europa League."
Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Frankfurt, DFL chairman Christian Seifert revealed that Sky's offer exceeded all others by 20% in three of the four categories in which the company was awarded contracts.
"We didn't expect results like this, it clearly exceeded our expectations," Seifert said.
In response to rumours of the new contract agreement, shares of Sky Deutschland opened trading nearly 20% higher on Tuesday than on their Monday close.
this makes the BL A LOT more competitive in Europe, though our teams from the first league still get less money than the EPL,Serie A and La Liga. But this will boost our league, imo.

erm, it's a 216 mil increase, let's say 150 of that goes to 1. bundesliga, that's 8 million per year, which is one good player...
help? sure... massive step to make the league more competitive in europe? hardly

Oh yessss...
Gladbach to go back to it's glory days.
Bayern don't need the money, but the rest definitely wouldn't go bad with it.
Good TV deal + usual merch sales = GOAT teams.

Re: Bundesliga grows and grows...
I was about to post something about this yesterday, but then I got hammered.
Anybody *cough RWO cough* got any figures how much of the clubs budgets actually comes from TV-deals?
Either way, the average German club now gets more than 50% increase in TV money, and with financial fair play looming, soon they'll be comepting financially with English clubs without breaking a sweat.
Bundesliga on the rise, I guess.

Re: Bundesliga grows and grows...
Swiss Ramble got exhaustive data for Bayern, Dortmund and Schalke here:
http://swissramble.blogspot.de/search/label/Bayern%20Munich
http://swissramble.blogspot.de/search/label/Borussia%20Dortmund
http://swissramble.blogspot.de/search/label/Schalke%2004
Here's an overview including some BL teams, also from Swiss Ramble:
The large TV income for Bayern and Schalke in that season was due to the CL TV income, btw, it is not only the domestic TV money listed. I think the CL TV money accounts for roughly 30 mio Euros, IIRC.

Re: Bundesliga grows and grows...
So, looking at Hamburg and Dortmund, we can guess that TV-money was at roughly 25 to 30 million domestic for BuLi clubs, and they'll probably be more around 40 to 45 million in the next couple of seasons? That is one high-profile signing per season for every average Bundesliga club, if you want to calculate it that way. Not bad.
Also WTF at Bayern earning less TV money than mid-table scrub from the other leagues...

Ok so this is just along the lines of "higher salaries" instead of "everyone enter the bidding war NOW", eh?

Re: Bundesliga grows and grows...
But salaries is what attracts players hte most, and across the entire table, the TV deal increase is a massive improvement for everyone. I thought I posted that 50% increase is massive by any book but :vagi:

Re: Bundesliga grows and grows...
Well, the BL's strength is their knack to get top notch commercial deals anyway. In that respect the BL teams have an advantage as the German economy is stronger than that of Spain, Italy or England.

The likes of Farfan and Barrios can now earn upto 8 millions a year.... :vagi:
No wonder Bayern arent quite happy with the outcome of this 50 % increase since it is evenly distributed.

So, I merged this topic with the other about the new TV deal, so that everything is nicely combined.

50% improvement is still excellent. Bundesliga has been doing more with less for quite a while now.

Bayern don't need the money. Once the Allianz is payed we'd have Madrid-type economic muscle.
