no I'm not saying that. I'm saying don't think a player will do well just because they looked good in a easy group.Jay29 wrote:Unique wrote:and if you have watched England at all you would know that how England perform in a easy qualifying group has nothing to do with how they play in the eoros/world cup propperJay29 wrote:If you've watched England at all throughout qualifying you'd know Wilshere was one of their best performers. He's not going because of some hokey potential, but because in an England shirt he always performs.
So we should leave out all the players that performed well during qualifying because it's an easy group?
Hodgson should get stick for some things but picking players that he knows performs for him, works well in the systems he plans to play and has good on-pitch relationships with other players over some players who have two months of decent PL form is not one of them.

Who would go instead? Delph or Noble?
What makes Wilshere so great exactly? He's always been about potential that he's never reached. Offensively his best PL season is 3 goals and 4 assists. To put that in perspective, Henderson has bettered that in four PL seasons, Noble five times and Milner seven times.
Best technical midfielder we have by a mile. Can actually control the ball and not chase his first touch across france unlike 90% in the squad. Most creative midfielder we have. Best dribbler we have in midfield. Can actually pass the ball forward instead of backwards or sideways.
Been our best midfielder in qualifiers.
No reason not to take him.
Some of you guys would rather have a midfield of Drinkwater-Dier-Noble just because they have had a great season in the PL. Same PL where Leicester are champions, reigning champions Chelsea are in midtable and West ham are finishing 3 points below the top 4.
No wonder we do shit in tournaments. 'hard working' 'great inform players from shit clubs' being preferred over players who actually belong at the Euros amongst the elite

Re: The Three Lions
I doubt any of them will do well tbh. but imo we should play fit players that are on the back of a good season where possible. no point picking a player because he had a good game 2 years ago.RealGunner wrote:Unique wrote:no I'm not saying that. Shame about the back 4
Although I'm unsure on the forwards, we'll see how it goes.

Re: The Three Lions
Apparently it's 4-3-3 and not 4-3-1-2.
That'd be my first choice midfield though.

Re: The Three Lions
We could do with calming things down and keeping the ball a bit more. Wilshere and Alli barely seeing it in midfield.
