Re: Raheem Sterling
You know, I am not as high on Sturridge as some here, but with Coutinho and Sterling in the team for at least another few years we are going to be dangerous in attack no matter what. It's not that common to get to see two world class youngsters of the caliber of Coutinho and Sterling come into their prime together on the same team. Enjoy it while you can.

Also anyone else think that new girl Zuri Hall looks exactly like Raheem Sterling with long blonde hair?

Liverpool made an approach to Raheem Sterling's representatives in the last fortnight & talks on a new deal are set to begin soon.
Didn't he just sign a new long year deal last season?

He signed a 5-year contract in December 2012 which was initially worth 30k/week. I don't know has he signed any extension after that. If not, it's a good time to offer him an improved contract as I can see some clubs trying to lure him away.

Re: Raheem Sterling
Honestly don't think he deserves more than 70k a week right now.
I'm really starting to hate this side of football, you can give a young player all the chances and the club can help him develop into who he is, but the player could potentially leave for the sake of money, understandable on their end, but it's just so frustrating.

If we put him on anything over 100k we really are more stupid than we already look.

Re: Raheem Sterling
ha, there is no way he will be getting 100k...nah gawd, Luis Suarez after putting some great numbers, he had initally got onl1 120k.
Sterlings agent may demand something like that but there is no way we will accept it.

I think there's a conspiracy between Mr. Owl and Rodgers to kill this lad on the pitch .

Should be rested against Sunderland (Saturday), so that he'll be ready for the crucial game against Basel (Tuesday).

Yeah, yeah, but those long, insightful previews that are my trademark don't write themselves, you know. It takes time. If someone, anyone, doesn't want to wait for one, it's perfectly fine for anyone to start a match thread.
But anyway, I just finished writing the Sunderland one, so here you go:

Apparently his rejecting 70k a week, what ever happened to proving yourself over a few season before thinking you deserve to be a top earner.

Re: Raheem Sterling
If he turns down £70k per week, let him go, honestly. I can see only Chelsea or City offer him more than that (I don't think United would sign a Liverpool player) and I don't want to compete in wages with them.
I'd also argue that his hype has come down a little from its peak. He hasn't really put on any remarkable performances this season.

Even though his been wasted in the wings, if all he can play is behind two strikers i cant see much clubs dropping other players for him.

Re: Raheem Sterling
Nothings definitive... a "source" has said he'll reject it. Probably the same "source" that said he wanted 60k a week when he signed his current contract (at 30/40/whatever it is)

Re: Raheem Sterling
Guys if we let him go, we are fools...we cry for signing players and then we cant make a player sign a new deal, we should just go and die. I dont think Raheem will be asking for 90k per week. It is just that his agent is trying for maximum for him, I think eventually he will sign a something around 60k or 70k

Re: Raheem Sterling
#1. By now possibly everyone knows how big I'm for home-grown players. Raheem is the best thing that have happened since Gerrard & Carragher.
#2. If a 20-year old, with one good season to show for himself, is asking for a lol-worthy amount; he lacks the head to fulfill his potential and is more likely to fizzle out than anything else.
#3. Perhaps HMR is right and it's his agent who is trying to squeeze-out some extra bucks for the kid and for himself. After all, we don't seem to hand agents very well.
#4. Perhaps it's not about money and the numbers thrown around are just smock-screen (we all know how reliable & informed the media are). May be Raheem wants to buy some time to see if Rodgers & owners have a plan and the ability to execute that, whereby Raheem can have a good & long career with us. After all, not everyone is Gerrard and neither should we advise that to someone.
#5. I say wait till the end of season. Things will be much clearer (one way or other) by then. There's two more years after that as well.

Agreed. We can't afford to let Sterling go. His upside is tremendous, he's already the best player on the team, and he's only 20 years old. The money thing is tricky, but I'm sure they won't pay him more than what they think he's worth and hopefully they can convince him that taking that money is the right thing to do.

Re: Raheem Sterling
I think it's high-time this kid gets a break. He has racked-up 2296 minutes over 27 games. Last night he looked a bit tired/sluggish in the last 10-or-so minutes and then there was that swipe at Fernandez.
