Europe vs America Empty Europe vs America

Post by urbaNRoots Sun Mar 18, 2012 11:16 am

If a friendly between Europe and America would happen, who would win - and who would play for Europe/America.

IMO

Neuer

Sagna - Vidic - Barzagli - Enrique

Busquets

Xavi - Iniesta

Ibrahimovic - van Persie - Ronaldo

vs

Di Maria - Aguero - Hulk

Messi

Lucas - Banega

Marcelo/Zanneti - T. Silva - Mascherano - Alves

Diego Alves

Managers: Guardiola vs Bielsa

Thoughts?

Barzagli

OT: it's really hard to choose which is a better squad.

Although I'd take ronaldo out because he flops in big games :coffee:

The European team is lacking too much Pirlo for my liking!

Europe would win it. Both teams have great forwards but Xavi-Iniesta would just own the midfield completely.

Busquets out, Pirlo in.
Sagna/Enrique over Lahm?
and is there any point in saying 'America' when all of these players are South American? I thought this thread was going to be about USA/Canada/Mexico vs Europe

Can Pirlo defend better than Busquets? That's why I put Busquets because of his versatility, but Pirlo is clearly a good suggestion.

And Lahm has been very very weak in 2 years now, while Sagna and Enrique have been rock solid - maybe there are other guys who I've missed, but not Lahm.

@Ganso - yh I'm not sure about my America team - Lavezzi hasn't been that good for Argentina on the wings, that's why I choosed Di Maria for. And I totally forgot about Ganso

USA, Canada and Mexico are part of America. So is South America.

Anyways, USA/Canada/Mexico vs Europe would be completely one sided.

I agree with your comments on Pirlo and Lahm (Bayern fans rate him highly though). Pirlo's inclusion would warrant a change in formation so that he could have a DM alongside him. An alternative to Sagna or Enrique? Personally I rate Maggio very highly. Although he plays as a RM most of the time, he has also proven himself very capable at RB.

In that XI Messi is the playmaker, he wouldn't be able to make nearly as much dribbling as he does with Barca, and although he is good as playmaker, he isnt nearly as good as a midfield paired with Xavi and Iniesta. Messi can't win games alone, Argentina 2010 taught us that.

how they would dominate when there is ronaldo in the team? just 2 players can not dominate game, you need 11 players with same philosophy to dominate a game. in barcelona even valdes passes the ball instead of kicking it its not just xavi and iniesta

in this formation i dont see much of possession from europa, it would be close game and forwards would define the result

Is there a point in saying America when you mean North America? Wink

Anyways, America is a continent, not a country.

A team with Ronaldo can dominate possession. Want an example? Real Madrid. You don't need 11 players with the same philosophy to dominate a game. Pep's phylosophy isnt the all mighty truth of football.

2 players can dominate the midfield. And Xavi and Iniesta would. With a better defence and forwards of equal quality, Europe would be in advantage. America simply cannot rival a Xaviesta midfield.
