Liverpool vs. Everton || Anfield
I'm disappointed. Less than 24 hours to go till the game and no matchday thread.
1. Man Utd - 67
2. Man City - 66
3. Tottenham - 53
4. Arsenal - 52
5. Chelsea - 49
6. Newcastle - 44
7. Liverpool - 39
8. Sunderland - 37
9. Everton - 37
If we lose Everton will leapfrog us into 7th. We don't really have anything to play for in the Premier League but bragging rights, especially in this game versus our hated rivals.
Hopefully we can show them tomorrow that there are only two good clubs in Liverpool. Liverpool FC and Liverpool Reserves.
Glen and Stevie should be fit for the match. Agger and Lucas are still out. The rest of the squad is the same. Hope Adam is benched and hopefully we don't play 4-3-3, it clearly doesn't work for us.

Dominate them. Hit the post twice. Eventually get an own goal in there.
Them to equalise to make it 1-1 at the end due to a Carragher defensive error.

Judging by the two clubs' current form, not losing would be a "victory" for us. And, yes. I understand just how sad that is to say.ynwa wrote:Dominate them. Hit the post twice. Eventually get an own goal in there.

That said, form tends to go out the window in derby matches. Here's hoping we have a good showing and use it as a springboard to shrug off our recent league woes.
I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Coates start at the back (unlikely due to the pressure of the match and carragher's reputation) and Carroll up front (more likely as he didn't start against Sunderland). Please let us play Spearing and Hendo in the center. Heck, even Shelvey, Hendo and Spearing would be better than putting Adam in after his recent sabotage efforts.

I'm just happy that we're playing, and I'll get to watch us in action. Don't really care about the result much these day in the league.

Re: Liverpool vs. Everton || Anfield
I think every Liverpool fans general feeling is still bitter disappointment for not making it into top-4 this season. Difficult to get as excited about these league games as in earlier parts of the season.
That said, this is a game every LFC fan must really really want to win.
So get finally a league win here, after that I'd like to see our fringe and youth players get some games.

subs: Adam Morgan for Carroll at around 60th minute.

Will give my full comprehensive thoughts tomorrow.
But this game explained why Kelly is 39445 times the defender and big game player than Gleninho is.

Highly disagree with that Arq. Don't get me wrong, Kelly had an outstanding game but Johnson is the best full back at the club.
He's underrated as hell when it comes to defending, and is arguably the best full back in the league when it comes to attacking. Kelly is still really inconsistent when it comes to going forward, and hasn't been been the greatest since the SkrAgger partnership broke up.

Perhaps my memory is failing me here, but didn't Agger get injured at the same relative time as Johnson? As such Kelly never had the opportunity to play with a fully in-form Skrtel-Agger partnership for any run. Seems an odd stick to beat him with in that case.

Re: Liverpool vs. Everton || Anfield
Johnson is a great full back (though I do think his occasional defensive slip-ups have been covered up this season by Skrtel and Agger). The thing is that Kelly is almost as good in attack (did you see him getting into the final third yesterday?... his pace?... that shot?) and more solid defensively. Most of the attacking criticisms can be attributed to a lack of regular game opportunities. You can't expect him to come in after having sat most of the season and start curling them into the top corner. The lad's an English full-back, not CR7. Oh, I forgot to mention that the lad came through the academy and is only 21... I can see him turning into the Jamie Carragher of the next generation of Liverpool players.
I know this is going to be a little controversial, but I honestly wouldn't shed a tear if we decided to sell him to raise funds for another attacker. Imho, Kelly and Flanno are ready to do the job, and Johnson's stock isn't going to get any higher than right now. I'm not necessarily saying I want him out of the club, or even that I necessarily want this to happen this summer. I'm merely saying it might be the best business decision. In addition, with Kelly set to turn 22 next month, he'll be looking to earn a more regular place in the squad soon. I think he would walk into the right-back role at many Premier League clubs, and the longer we hold him out of the first team, the more likely he is to seek "greener pastures."
It's merely something to think about.

Nono. You were right.
None the less, before the Everton game, he was poor prior to the two games before.
