Re: When Mourinho leaves who should we replace him with?
i know but jupp was able to keep it going, made couple changes improved them, so imo jupp must have an idea how to that system work and mainly he can make us more of a unit than carlo

if you buy a dell computer at walmart, when it's broken, you send it back to dell, not walmart. It's Van Gaal construct, and he is genius at doing that. It took two years to implement that, and then Heynckes worked on tactics and pressing.
anyway, Jupp is not coming.

I can't imagine how Madrid can just ignore what happened at the end of the season when Jupp was here in the 80s. In a way, it was more disgraceful than Mou lol.

Re: When Mourinho leaves who should we replace him with?
Jupp is the back up plan because he is likely to retire, so maybe the only one willing to wait. other managers havent been strongly contacted by madrid so they are moving on. Benitez with napoli, klopp was never coming, neither was Low, Laudrup made it clear he was staying at swansea (he doesnt care about big teams, credits to him), who else? pretty much everyone is moving on. If Madrid cant get Carlo (and i dont see that happening), then semi-retired Jupp will get a call). However, Carlo is already packing his stuff in Paris, telling Perez which players he likes and we are moving accordingly.

So how is Ancelotti like in terms of tactics? Does he have a solid defense, good possession, pressing and is he tactically good?

His Milan team:
http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/01/22/teams-of-the-decade-14-milan-2002-07/
His Chelsea team:
http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/05/10/chelsea-premiership-champions-2009-10/
http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/02/04/nicolas-anelka-as-a-trequartista/
His PSG team:
http://www.zonalmarking.net/2013/04/03/psg-2-2-barcelona-ancelotti-justified-in-using-a-brave-starting-line-up/
Essentially he prefers a three man midfield be it 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-1-2. He's not above conceding possession and pressing in general isn't something his teams are known for. Not too different from Mourinho in that aspect.
EDI: Forgot to add that he likes his playmakers to play in the center of the pitch almost to a fault but over the years he's shown an ability to adapt. He's willing to play a more defensive mid and compensate in attack with attacking fullbacks.
Players like Modric, Khedira, Marcelo and potentially Caravajal could be very important in that type of system. Not to mention Ozil and hopefully Isco will be able to thrive as the creative forces on the team. The attack will likely funnel through CR (as it should) so not much would change in attack I guess.

Re: When Mourinho leaves who should we replace him with?
he is also using two man midfields a lot more now with PSG than he used to. and his 3 man midfield is not like barca, that's an important difference.
it's a culture thing me think, dominating the flow in italy in his era with milan was the most important thing because of the tactical nature of the game. So he developed extensive formations around that at milan. At chelsea, he went diamond midfield still with that idea of dominating the midfield, took advantage of the 433 heritage from mou and won the league. things got more complicated the season after but he changed formation. At PSG, he tried to bring back his christmas tree formation from milan, but the team wasnt prepared for that, eventually switched to 442, 4411, 4231 variations.

Yeah he's willing to adapt which is a good thing. However he's always tried to use his favourite system first and then adapts if it doesn't produce results.
Problem is in La Liga were a draw like like a loss and every point dropped feels crucial to the title race his tinkering might hurt results. We'll see how it goes but I see us being more comfortable in cup competitions under Carlo. That is unless our players have great individual seasons, if that happens then we'll be OK. This is why Flo wants to get some high profile players btw, he probably knows Carlo won't be able to get his system in place in the first season so he'll sign stars hope their performances compensate.

Re: When Mourinho leaves who should we replace him with?
When he first went to Chelsea he tried the diamond formation at first, he dropped Essien and had Mikel in the Pirlo role with Drogba and Anelka upfront it just didn't work out so he reverted to the Mourinho template for that team, a midfield three of Lampard, Essien and Ballack with Drogba as the lone striker. I hope he does his experimenting in preseason, we must hit the ground running in la liga.

Zidane to be both the director of player personnel and the bench coach for Carlo... hope it happens.

My disgust with Mou kind of spilled over to Karanka... and that wasn't fair. This guy was in the worse position possible lol. He's Spanish and his job is to defend Mou. What's worse, when Mou chickened out, he let Karanka take the abuse in the media.halamadrid2 wrote:Karanka is said to have been offered a role in the club as well
Glad he gets to stay. Hopefully we get him a calmer role lol.

Can you imagine the Spanish press trying to push Zizou around lol. Can you get banned for headbutting a reporter?Zealous wrote:sportsczy wrote:http://www.rmcsport.fr/editorial/382700/zidane-futur-directeur-sportif-du-real/

I agree hopefully people will go back to liking him again. As an assistant manager your job is to defend your coach and thats what he did. Mourinho put him in a difficult position though with antics you can't excuse. I am just glad Mou will be gone at the end of the season

Re: When Mourinho leaves who should we replace him with?
Karanka was the only guy to defend Higuain btw, defended Mou too and stayed loyal, that's the type of person you want on your team, not guys who side with one person but not the other like children.
Karanka put the club first and he handled the press really well. I hope he'll have a successful coaching career eventually he has what it takes.
Honestly if results aren't up to Marca's standard I can see them turning on Zidane pretty quickly. Marca are asshats and a poison to the club's morale.

Heynckes' agent:
Enrique Reyes was quoted as telling Spain's Radio Nacional: "Jupp would be happy and willing to return to Real Madrid. If Florentino calls us, we would probably accept the offer.
"At the moment he's only retiring from the Bundesliga, although right now he's only thinking about the German cup final."

Re: When Mourinho leaves who should we replace him with?
Jupp Heynckes
My take - We need someone with Madrid experience(as a player or coach). Any other club, it wouldn't matter, but at Madrid, especially after last 3 yrs it is looks like that experience is a must.
Ancelloti is n't bad ,but unfortunately for me doesn't tick this. Even though he managed Milan with stars, but it was not MADRID. Madrid is a different animal altogether. I know what I am implying is laughable - Coach needs to get fired at RM(for experience) to come back as one. That's the Irony of RM
Jupp/Zidane have been there and done that before.

flo would be stupid to pass up this opportunity considiring there is no way ancelotti is going to survive more than one season in madrid. only way ancelotti wont get sacked is if he wins CL but chances of that are slim, meanwhile he is going to flop in the league as always and cdr wont be enough to not ensure a sacking.
please be sensible flo and get jupp

Is Heynckes postponing his retirement to do another spell at RM?
