I think there is a good chance if Madrid wins Liga and CL, if he wins both my bet is he is leaving Madrid.

He brings success, yes....but that's all he brings. Does he bring stability? No. Does he bring a long-term plan or vision? No. Does he bring the ability to build a side on a modest budget? No. Does he bring a history of bringing through younger players who aren't yet the finished article and help them reach their potential? No.

This isn't a good fit any way I look at it, and it reeks of the same directionless, short-term approach to running a football club that got is into this mess in the first place.

Yes but perhaps if we take him on short term, fix our reputation somewhat, let him leave on his own terms then maybe the real manager we want will be ready at waiting by then?

He can't play an old squad either, Basically our entire squad is young so there shouldn't be much of a problem there.

I saw a suggestion a few weeks ago that it could well work out to be something like Mourinho for a few years, then someone like Poyet or Zola to take over for the longer-term once they've gained a bit more experience. Wouldn't be too opposed to something like that (even if it weren't one of those two), but I'd prefer to cut out the middleman and forget about Mourinho altogether.

I agree, I am not happy about Mourinho BUT he will win us things.

Short term, it could be decent, especially considering Zola might be back in the BPL next season.

Shed, you make sound like his RM team is in complete shambles atm when theyre a decent chance of winning the CL and the coppa (i think) the only reason theyve lost la liga is because they threw too many points early on in a league that has no competition

Plus, this team doesnt have the winners mentality we had under Mou, Carlo and RDM, and although thatis mainly due to FSW, its something we've always based ourselves on, ffs we showed more fight under Scolari with an inferior team

I think many are glossing over the fact that most of the problems we've had over the last 6 or so years were caused by him in the first place. We're still to this day feeling the effects of his first stint that ended years ago, and not in a good way. Do we really want to go through that all over again?

He might not even be ready in 2 or 3 years time, let's not forget. Personally, I wouldn't mind one bit if the club appointed Poyet full-time this summer. Has a bit more experience than Zola, plays the kind of football we're looking for, and has a connection to the club. Be interesting to see if he comes into consideration should we finish out of the Top 4.
