Wow the middle is the highest?
Huge difference to last year.
Thats because Ronaldo is cutting in and making runs to the center much more this season and Di Maria is more focused on the final pass into the middle as well

Rayo lead the league in interceptions and are 3rd in drawing offsides...why they letting in so many goals..

Alot of fouls though.
Oh, and this
The Highest % of Touches in the Middle of the Pitch:
1. Barcelona 48%
2. Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Real Madrid and Malaga 46%
3. Getafe, Santander, Mallorca, Athletic Bilbao, Betis and Atletico Madrid 45%
The Highest % of Touches in the Oppositions Half:
1. Barcelona 32%
2. Real Madrid, Malaga and Atletico Madrid 30%
3. Betis and Valenica 29%
Are we still sure Barca just pass between centerbacks all game ?
Pretty sure i got something wrong here but if 32% of touches are within the opposition half, then wouldn't the rest (68%) be in your own half?

Not sure but I'm willing to bet it has something to do with their long ball stat. I'm willing to wager they rank highly in the shots conceded and low on pass accuracy.
While they can retain the ball they probably concede possession just as quickly.

It's split into three not two.

If im reading it right, we have 32% in the attacking third, 48% in the middle so that leaves 20% in our defensive third.

I can only imagine that depends on which pitch you are playing on.
I think its just split up equally into 3 sections.

Makes sense.
But I question why are they playing long ball stuff.
The rare times I seen them, they play 4231 and Javi Fuego does an excellent Busquets impression by dropping deep and looking to collect the ball.

Re: La Liga HT Stats Report - Part 1 Teams
True Rayo have some capable players like Raul Tamudo and Javi Fuego but I really do think it comes down to overall quality.
Credit to Sandoval for drilling his team well but if you aren't calm on the ball or on defence you can't expect to get clean sheets. For a lot of these players it's their first experience in the BBVA, most of them have only played in the segunda in the past.
Rayo have grit though and a great home support behind them. They're riding the wave.

Indeed. One guy like Fuego can drop deep all he likes but if the CB's dont have composure on the ball they or the fullbacks will end up launching it.

BTW Betis have been my favourite "other team" to watch in Spain. Their games are fun to watch. Pepe Mel doesn't have them playing winning football but it's attractive.

Like I said mostly segunda players on that squad. Considering all the off pitch factors that hurt Rayo as an institution it's a miracle they're even in the top flight.

Haha well now that I've permanently jinxed them I may as well show you their other great results.
Both goals coming in the final minutes.
and probably game of the season in the league so far. 4-3 vs Zaragoza.

Re: La Liga HT Stats Report - Part 1 Teams
Pepe Mel has done some sexy stuff this season. I remember when they came to the Bernabeu and they were outplaying us a little out there, until we score. We were just too powerful for them to handle but they did show well.
