Finally! I am just afraid we sign Cesc and he will not get enough play time. It would be bad for him IMO.

Yes we do have a plan for him.

I was wrong when I thought there was any possibility of Afellay being considered for the midfield. It's become much clearer now. Afellay will be second backup for forward positions after Alexis Sanchez.

Now in the midfield Thiago will be second creative midfield backup after Cesc Fabregas. I am not ruling out a pure one year loan to a small friendly club for his development but it's unlikely. Also Euro 2012 is too soon for him but maybe WC 2014.

Mascherano will be first backup for defensive midfield and second backup for center back. All this means that Keita's minutes will be severely cut. Still Pep likes him and will give him time in utility substitute roles. His sale is unlikely but not completely ruled out.

As said in the other thread, new contract dont mean much.

At the least it would mean Thiago won't leave this summer except for a one year loan. At least we can now forget about the pressure that the interest from so many other clubs was generating.
