I have always enjoyed comparing these two players. In fact dani and I had a short discussion on this some time back.

Now I want to ask this question to everyone here especially in light of the upcoming Milan vs. Arsenal tie in UCL.

All biases aside, who do you consider the better player of the two and why?

Ibra by far, for me ibrahimovic is the complete package.

He's more of an SS I guess, but he is way better then van persie. Take away van persies goals and he isn't that good. Ibra has a fantasic dribble and an eye for a great final pass

Thanks for the replies guys. Actually such comparisons have been made difficult by injuries. van Persie could potentially be as successful as Ibrahimovic if he wasn't so injury prone. On similar lines Arjen Robben could be neck to neck with Cristiano Ronaldo if he wasn't such a glass man.

RVP this season reminds me of that season Rooney had when he scored a ton of goals. Some games he doesnt play well at all and scores goals, when in previous seasons he might of played better games and not scored as often.

Some people see this as better, im not sure I do.

From what i have seen, RVP is better than Ibra...

First, i like RVP's style more than Ibra's. Plus, i think RVP's dribbling is actually better than Ibra's and i actually do think he would be a more successful player if he was not bogged down by so many injuries...

you do know rvp is one of the best passers in our team right?, he is originally an ss, you need to watch rvp more as you clearly have know clue. they are both very good, but rvp is more mobile so better for me imo.

Actually ibra is just as mobile. Remember ibra is 30..

I have watched RVP play this season, and though he may have started as a winger/SS, he's basically a finisher now.

Thanks for the replies guys. I expected a difference of opinion on this and that seems to be the case but dani's reply surprised me. From my previous impression I would have expected him to say Ibra without question. The one aspect in which van Persie clearly has an edge over Ibrahimovic is mobility I think. He's also probably a better finisher. On the whole I think I lean a little towards Ibra. Now this was an exaggerated comment I made some time back and it's of course not always true but some time back I had called Ibra the Xavi of the final third. Physicality also gives Ibra an edge. Technically also he is slightly better. As far as big match performances go Ibra is criticized for that I accept but I can't think of van Persie as a big match performer either. It's hard to comment on this much because van Persie being injured so often makes it difficult to evaluate him fairly in this aspect.

Van Persie for me by a mile - I don't rate Ibraflop. Van Persie is better finisher, dribbler and isn't a big game flop. Also he doesn't change a clubs like gloves. Ibra is a slightly better passer, that's it. RVP > Ibra.

I never understood "Ibra is a big game flop". To me, he isnt.

In Barca for example, scored in El Clasico and vs Arsenal. Scored important goals for Barca that year. (and there is no bigger game then El Clasico imo)

Only thing RvP is better at is goalscoring imo. The rest Ibra is better. But RvP this season has been better and that's becouse his goalscoring is crazy this season.

Ibra is faster with the ball, much better passing technique, more skills and you can really feel he is more naturally talented, shoots rockets and dribbles better imo, also he's pretty good on dead ball shots, I think RVP edges in finishing and headers (even though he's shorter).

Overall i would pick Ibra, Current forms : RVP is doing great but if were speaking generally.. Zlatan is a ball of skills. Plus he's like a walking "rabbit foot" , every darn club he goes to wins the League.. he's on a roll here.
