Joachim Low named Man of the Year Empty Joachim Low named Man of the Year

German football magazine Kicker have honoured Joachim Low with their 'Man of the Year' award.

The prestigious award is announced annually to the greatest figure in German football over the course of the calendar year.

According to Kicker, Low was able "to form a national team with many gifted talents. With a heart-warming combination of offensive football, he excited the home fans and captured the world's respect and recognition."

The coach was honoured by the award, but credited his team for their part in the honour.

"I am pleased. I regard it as a prize for the team, I'm proud of their performance," he said according to the official DFB (German FA) website.

Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson praised Low for initiating a "renaissance" in German football.

"Joachim Low's great achievement is that he had the courage to give young players the chance to play," he added.

My only complaint is that some players don't get the playing time they deserve, but it's insanely hard with such talent available.
