Re: General match thread
Surprised with Nani on the left, didn't expect him to set the pitch alight, but he has impressed.

Re: General match thread
Wolves have been outplayed. Unless McCarthy changes his formation, there's really nothing to gain from this, from a Wolves perspective.

Re: General match thread
Positives:
Rooney scored again....2 goals as well
We scored more than 2 goals in the league since Oct 23rd game....
We actually played great football. Fast attacking play through the middle, nani had a fantastic game, Valencia was brilliant and seemed to gain more confidence after his first assist...Jones...this kid is a mofo'ing beast, he was superb. His stamina could rival Park lol, he was busting those trademark runs of his into the opposition's box even in the 90th min. he never stopped pressing and gnerally worked hard all game.
The question is, where do we play him now? He could potentially be a brilliant CB, RB or a CM for us. Good problem for SAF to have.
Carrick was brilliant yet again, I just love this form he is in. Keeps everything calm in the middle, wins back posession and picks out the right balls. He is such a top player when he is on this form.
Ferdinand had a solid game at the back and showed authority. dealt with everything that came to him- his only blemish on the night was a silly foul he commited which he recieved a yellow for. other than that, he was top class.
I'm loving Welbeck. he looks a proper good player. Has great technique, touch and passing. His movement is impressive too. The way he created the space for Rooney to score his first was very good. I don't know if it's only me, but I feel he is a better player than Hernandez. Hernandez is great, don't get me wrong, but I feel Welbeck offers more to his game than Cheech does.
Negatives:
poor goal to concede. Evra mistimed his jump for the ball. Could have been avoided.
Smalling was beaten far too much by Jarvis. First game I've seen Smalling struggle at RB all season. He has been brilliant this season and kept Villa's abgonlahor quite last week, so I'll put his performance today down as maybe fatigue. 120 mins v Palace, 90 mins v Villa, 90 mins v Basel and 90 mins today. It will take a toll on any player just back from injury.
DDG has got to stop punching balls away. Pick the damn thing up. Needs to sort that out.
Overall- Great performance, great win. It was the right way to bounce back after Wednesday's disaster. Let's all hope now that Cheslea beat City on Monday.
Only 2 points behind City now.
PS welcome to the forum Gladiator.

Re: General match thread
Such an achievement, by our standards, of late. The times I got pissed off was when Rooney was on the ball, he made a lot of bad decisions, but at least he ended his goal drought. Man of the match was Jones. If we want to get the best out of him, then play him as a centre-back, although Smalling is a better centre-back, in fairness to the latter. Having him operate as a box-to-box midfielder worked effectively, he made more runs and looked confident throughout, definitely deserved a goal. Could be an instant hit in the next few games, I think Fergie will stick with Jones and Carrick. Nani impressed me, surprised with his performance considering he's not able to replicate what he does on the right to the left. He was our best player after Jones. Valencia is back, it's safe to say that he's still able to put in quality crosses, that's what I love the most, the simplicity is admirable. Everyone impressed, even Smalling, however, in the second half, he was torn to shreds by Jarvis.
This win should add more pressure to City, hopefully.
Thanks, mate. Nice to meet you.

Re: General match thread
We did well today even though some of our playt still looks lethargic. Why is it now Rooney and Nani choose to score ffs. Hope this spurs us on to win the league.

Currently leading 2-0, thanks to Park and Berbatov. Too easy, Wigan have a man sent off wrongly too.
