Xavi is getting older... he was fantastic before. But even Barca fans should agree that Piggy is more complete and has surpassed him as a footballer today, despite what Ballon d'Or and FIFA people say.

on defense... those are the current best for me in their positions.

Alonso i picked because he's unique in terms of distribution and passing ability for a low-playing midfielder. Honestly, that's my only homer pick lol. There are many others that are likely better... Pirlo being one of them.

Rooney is the second best combo striker in the world after Messi imo. Can playmake and score with equal quality.

The rest, no need to justify imo.

I completely understand everyone there in that formation. If you are going to have Alonso, then Schweini is an excellent choice because he is defensively solid too. However, if you are going to have a proper DM instead of Alonso, then Xavi is the better option.

About Xavi, yes, Schweini is a more complete midfielder, but no player today can control the midfield like Xavi. He is a master at controlling the pace and giving instructions to the players around him. Schweini does not have that kind of influence yet, so as a footballer, i dont think he is surpassed Xavi's level yet. Although, with more experience, he could get there, i have my doubts. Xavi is just too good!

Rooney combining with Messi would be amazing to watch no doubt. I wonder how CR7 would play with those guys though.

If i was really going for the best team... not individuals, i'd put in Gomez instead of CR7. Need a poacher + doesn't require the ball to be effective + is a physical presence in the box.

?? Really? Which Barca fans? Far out even for non-Barca fans this is a facepalm. Still quite easily the best midfielder in the world.

I'm sorry... but every time Iniesta has been off the field, Xavi has been a complete shadow of his usual self. He's not the beast midfielder he used to be in terms of overall quality. He's lucky that he has Busquets and Iniesta around him + Messi in front of him to cushion his obvious decline... not that he's not great. But no longer the best imo. Piggy has taken over as the best midfielder.

Try being a defensive-minded midfielder with Van Gaal as the coach would make anyone look less than themselves. Even Lahm looked average at times lol.

Does'nt matter, this is based on 2011 as a whole no excuses Xavi has been better than Piggy over the 12 months.

I beg to differ. Xavi has been good... but nowhere near as impactful for club and NT as Piggy imo. They're both fugly; so there's no bias here based on physical appearance.
