is Dexter really as good as people say it is? I watched the first two episodes from season 1 and it didn't seem like anything special.....Does it get better or something?

You can't judge a TV show by 2 episodes. Watch a season before you rate it. And yeah I think it starts getting real good at season 2 (or whatever season he starts hunting the ice truck killer, can't remember)
Skip a season if you want in worst case.

If you did not like the first 2 episodes, you are not going to like the show.

I skipped season 4 and 5 since they weren't on Netflix at the time that I was catching up on them

It's the best show on TV imo, by far. And the first season is one of the best, I'd watch the entire season, I'm sure you'll like it.
And I didn't know anyone followed the show on here, I posted about the new season a few times in the TV series thread.

And you're watching season 6? I would go back and watch 4&5 because a lotta stuff in season 6 doesn't make sense if you didn't watch those seasons(especially season 4). Plus season 4 is one of the best.

just watched 3rd episode of season 1.....I think i'm getting the hang of it.....I'll finish the season then see how i like it.

I tought the 2nd season was best if it's the Ice Truck Killer season. I don't remember since I've been watching this show since the beginning of it.

- I knew Gellar was dead. It was obvious. Went "underground" = dead. Also the awkward scene when he stalks Travis having sex, all the times he pops up out of nowhere and Gellar never saw his sister talking to the cops, but we saw Travis walking past.
IMO, Brother Sam has been the best thing this season. What a man! (and a rapper)

- Really didn't think it was farfetched at all. That guy was a Christian extremist, obsessed with Gellar, who posted over and over on a site dedicated to the ending of the world. He was crazy. The guy really believed that an apocalypse was happening, and would do whatever to make sure he is "cleansed". Travis knew he was the type of follower that would "test their faith".
But that said, the writing overall on the episode wasn't great, I agree. Examples: Batista, goes to potential killer's house and won't wait for his partner. Goes in alone? Or how about Holly Benson chained up for a couple days, forced to drink blood, and she just goes right back on living normal? How about getting the f out of Miami, lol. Or the way that Travis was easily able to find her on the Yacht, yet it took Dexter some time. Or how Dexter seems to have a new burner all the time, because he seems to always make damaging phonecalls from his own phone. Like the night before Dex killed Nick, he called him from his own phone. Or last night when he calls the police, from what seemed like his own phone again.
With all that said, I still like the season. Not one of the best but still good. I still have a couple theories, one that Travis had an accomplice(didn't Holly say she heard 2 different voices when she was taken the first time), at first I thought it was Louis but after the last episode, now I don't think so. And obviously there is some sort of connection with Louis and the ITK. He may already know something about Dex. Either way there's definitely something going on with him. Not sure if that storyline will wind down this season or maybe they're setting it up for next season.
