They need to implement a longer break so their players don't get to the WC as exhausted.

You talking English players? They never shine since 1966.
As for others, possibly they exhaust themselves after having countless battles against clubs like Stoke, that eat Messis' for breakfast

My question is how Bramble has never shone in a WC, he is such an amazing player and would be better than Messi had he lifted the WC last year.

Re: Premier/english league players never shine in world cups
Gary Lineker in 1990 world cup
Micheal Owen in 98 world cup
Ronaldo in 2006 world cup
Henry in 2006 world cup
Van Dersar and Kyut in 2010 world cup
Rooney in 2004 Euros
Torres in 2008 Euros
All of them had really good tournaments with Lineker having an excellent.
You have to remember that only since mid 2000s PL started attracting quality foreign players regularly unlike Seria A or La Liga . Till then most premier league teams are made up only of British players with odd contenental players whose NTs are usually poor.
The likes of Kenny Dalglish,Giggs,George Best really didnt have a strong NT to shine. They faced the same fate of Shevchenko.

linekar didn't make the team of the tournament in 90, but in 86 he did and he was playing for barca.
owen, ronaldo, kuyt or van der saar didn't make the team of the tournament in their theirs. owen did win best young player though i think.
yeah henry i've mentioned.
i think bergkamp and gascoigne made the best team before, but really compared to the other top european leagues, there isn't much for the epl.
i've talking about players who really stood out.
yeah the euros have a couple. i remember ballack in 2008 doing well, and ronaldo in 2004.
