If he (Diaby) does play, what do you think his position will be? IMO, his previous inconsistencies were due to him being played out of position.

Re: Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
Seeing the position that the two Manchester clubs are in after tonight, I was wondering about what would happen if we fail to win tomorrow night. Here are the scenarios:
If Arsenal draw and Marseille win...
Arsenal and Marseille would both qualify. Arsenal would need a win against Olympiacos to win the group. Marseille would win the group if they win, Arsenal will be runners up.
If Arsenal draw and Marseille draw...
Arsenal would qualify. Marseille would need a point against Dortmund to qualify, which would result in Arsenal winning the group regardless of their result against Olympiacos. If Marseille win against Dortmund, Arsenal would need to beat Olympiacos to win the group.
If Arsenal draw and Marseille lose...
Arsenal would qualify and would need a point against Olympiacos to win the group, regardless of Marseille's result against Dortmund. Dortmund would qualify as runners up if they beat Marseille.
If Arsenal lose and Marseille win...
Nobody would qualify. Arsenal would qualify if Dortmund lose to Marseille. Arsenal could finish third if they lose and Dortmund draw (Marseille would win the group). If Dortmund beats Marseille, Arsenal are through regardless of their result against Olympiacos. If Arsenal beat Olympiacos and Marseille fails to beat Dortmund, Arsenal would win the group.
If Arsenal lose and Marseille draw...
The winner of Dortmund/Marseille would win the group if Arsenal draw against Olympiacos. If Arsenal lose and Dortmund and Marseille draw, Arsenal are out. If Marseille and Arsenal win, Arsenal go through as winners. If Marseille lose and Arsenal fail to win, Arsenal will go through as runners up thanks to head-to-head surperiorty over Marseille.
If Arsenal lose and Marseille lose...
Then it'll be straight play-offs between Olympiacos/Arsenal and Dortmund/Marseille. Arsenal would qualify with a point and win the group with a win.
That was hard work.

Re: Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
great work!
In other words we cant go out of the CL. I really want us to finish the job tomorrow so we can send our kids to greece in teh final round. Dortmund will host Marseille in the last match so i am pretty confident Marseille wont win there.
Need the 3 points tomorrow

Re: Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
We can go out, but it'd be dependant on the resut of the Dortmund/Marseille game. Even if lose tomorrow, a win against Olympiacos would defintely be enough.
A win tomorrow and we'd qualify. We'll win the group if Marseille fail to beat Dortmund.
So long story short, win tomorrow and we'll save ourselves a heck of a lot of trouble.

LOl, Jay that must have been took you long to come out with all that. I was board at work and did almost do the same thing. We have a tough game tommorow and we should get the result.
I hope Walcott still has his hot shoes on and we can get a win and also at home we have only lost once and that was few years back. We have a good home record and we should win the game and hope the other game ends as a tie.

Re: Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
Just looked at his stats
Gotze averages 4 successfull dribbles per game in bundesliga more than any player in PL (44 dribbles in 11 matches)
best in PL is victor moses 39 in 12(3.3 pg)
now question is how effective piszczek will be?
when gotze comes inside and create space for him

personally i dont think we should be favored at all to win this one. If we do it'd be as big a win as the Chelsea one. dortmund mean business now

Chamakh on the wing instead of Gervs?
O.OOOO.
And wouldn't Mertesacker be starting against a German club?
.__.

Re: Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
Again, great preview MJ
On the match : Should be a cracker, looking forward to it.
On a side note, lets welcome Mario Götze today to what, in all likelyhood, would be his home in 2 months from now.

Dortmund are a VERY hard working team. They will press us to no end tomorrow. But wenger is a genius so he must be preparing for that

Re: Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund Preview
Raphael Hongstein:
"They usually play a 4-5-1 which, in detail, works as a 4-3-2-1 very often. The two attacking players usually play quite narrow when they are not in possession, but have a license to go anywhere they like when Dortmund are attacking. It's a very fluid system which is sometimes used to press the opposition very high up."
"They lost Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid and Lucas Barrios, who is their main forward, and they still haven't fully recovered."
"Gotze has more or less fulfilled expectations this season - especially for Germany. He was sensational against Brazil in August and has been pretty good whenever he has played."
"I think Dortmund will really give it a go but I can't see Arsenal losing so I'll say a draw. But I think it's going to be a really tough game for the Gunners."
