Yeah it's unfortunate. I plan on watching GoT, then an episode of a show called Vikings which is on History right now if anyone has heard of it, and then catching the re-run of the Walking Dead finale after that. I nearly halfway into the third books and i am now dead-sure that this season will kick some serious a$s
So many stuff has happened and it is not surprising that they split the book in two seasons. So many interesting characters, so many "oh sh!t" moments...cant f**in wait!

According to wikipedia it is based on the first half of the 3rd book.
I guess that they'll do the same with the 4th and the 5th. Mix them and do 1st and second half, instead of separating them by geography as Martin did and it sucked so much (4th book is absolute rubbish).
School of thrones is absolut rubbish. Give me back 30 minutes of my life.

How much of this show should you watch to understand what's going on? I've watched around 40 minutes of the first episode.

I'm thinking they could probably do the 4th and 5th book in 2 seasons, mixed obviously.free_cat wrote:Legend wrote:isn't this new season the 1st half of book 3?

You can refer wiki(not the plot) to understant the continents, the kingdoms, the houses and the main characters. But it would be better if you just dive into the series. It is not difficult to understant what is going on :-D
I assure you that the series is amazing.
And i would recomment reading the books

The 4th book is rubbish? Why do you think so? In what sense? Looks like i might finish book 3 in 2-3 days. so...is it still readable? What about the 5th book?

Re: Game of Thrones
I dont think the 4th book was bad at all. Its obviously slower than ASOS (how could it not be so much happens in that book) and there is a few too many Brienne chapters but its still very good.
I agree with BC that AFFC and ADWD should be done together in 2 seasons seeing as they take place in same time period and all.
Only thing about that is whether TWOW will be finished by then.

The problem is that books 4 and 5 and separated geographically. Book 4 follows Westeros and explores the state of the kingdom in the after-math of the war, whereas Book 5 follows what is happening outside of Westeros and at the North of the Wall. By the end of Book 5 the two stories become united again. Chances are, if both books were mixed into a Books 4 V2 and 5 V2 where the story is told in chronological order they would be better.

from what i've read that's exactly what they're going to do, there just isn't enough happening in feast for crows to warrant an entire season without boring the viewers to death, that book is booooooring... i'd use a spoiler tag if there was anything to spoil but literally nothing happens... i mean it's useful with regards to character development and whatnot but all the important information in the book could be summed up in three chapters

Re: Game of Thrones
I have a strange desire to go on a marathon of the first two seasons, if I start right now, I'll finish right about the time the premier starts.
The only negative is that Pool play early in the morning and I will be tired as hell.

I did watch that 9 minute review of the first two season and that's what prompted this desire to watch the first two season in depth again.
