Re: Chris Smalling
He looks a little out of place but he is doing a good job.
I think he's the best young CB atm, he's very good but at RB he looks a little bit uncomfortable.

Re: Chris Smalling
NO,offers nothing note worthy offensively, old school full backs are out dated. He better stay at CB.
Re: Chris Smalling
he is a suitable back up imo to a true RB, which is why he is being played there right now at United and England, he moves well for a CB playing RB but his future is at CB, Rafael will get fit and Smalling will move back to CB

exactly, that why he hasn't been tested you nob....that arsenal team didnt test him. now if he was up against gervinho, that will be another story. but he wasnt, he was up against a poor arshavin. he hasnt really faced full pace and out and out trickery yet.

Re: Chris Smalling
Defensively he's been as good as anyone in RB position.
Offensively you could ask for someone more suited to the RB role.

Re: Chris Smalling
He seems ok.. Like Adit said these days a fullback has to bring something forward offensively.. As a CB he is pretty bossy though
What I want to know is where does Fergie find these good defenders? I mean Phil Jones looks like a future beast, and Evans looks straight... Mean while we are stuck with Raul Albiol

How's Smalling?
I've seen his injury, and didn't look nice. Anyone know if the lad is ok?

Re: Chris Smalling
Seems he is at the hospital with concusion. Hope it's nothing more than that, it looked really serious. I feared of a spine injury as he wasn't moving at all.

Re: Chris Smalling
Looked really nasty. Thankfully he was seen talking afterwards and was actually walking, so it looks like a mild concussion.
He prolly won't play for a few weeks as a precaution.

Hope he is ok.
Shock was violent tho, he hit huntelaar so hard, klaas was knocked out for a little moment. He was literally eating grass
I hope both will be fine

Re: Chris Smalling
I've noticed that since his red card in the derby, he's developing an unfair rep as an awful defender. Piss takes galore from oppo fans and Utd fans too.smh. Especially yesterday after he's name appeared on the England team sheet.
He's our best defender imo, and the thought that some of our lot would want Carrick at cb over him is madness.
I was so peed off with him after that red card, for losing his head in a time where we needed him, and for putting us at a disadvantage so early due to his stupidity.
But putting it into perspective, that incident was a rarity when it comes to him. He's not a brute who picks up yellows and reds for fun.

Re: Chris Smalling
He was actually quite good yesterday. I think he's a good defender, but when someone comes back from injury it usually takes a few games before they hit into some good form, problem is he gets injured before he even hits good form. So he looks like he's always poor when he plays for us, even though he just needs games. I really wish he could override his problems, as I do with all of them.
I know some might not agree, the difference for me with Rafael to our other injury prone defenders a) proven he is capable of season free of injury in the past b) his injuries are usually muscular which is usually from fatigue. I think Robben had the same type of injures and van Gaal was able to adjust help him, that's why I think Rafael has a better chance than the others. I also don't think we'll find a better available RB, but a back-up is needed regardless. Of course, he might not be able to, but I think give him the season and we'll see. My problem with the others is they get the most random injuries, Evans was on crutches after the Leicester game, I don't even know what he did for him to be on crutches. Smalling gets stiff legs, the f*ck? Jones would header a brick, he's that harmful to his own self.

Re: Chris Smalling
Yea he will start next week. The question will be who is going to partner him. I will go with McNair. If Carrick aint fit, put Jones in DM or even McNair in DM. bottom line is DO NOT START FLETCHER !!

This should explain it. His performances in every match so far.
He's been Utd's best player.
