Bayern are lazy...
Source
Recent statistics revealed that Bayern Munich ran only 110.2 km per match, less than all but two teams in the German top flight, but Gomez insists that it is not a problem, pointing to his side's record in front of goal.
"We are the laziest team in the league, but we score the most goals," he told Bild.
"Our game is based on positional play. We let the ball and our opponents run, therefore we need to run less to cover ground."
Following Saturday's 4-0 win over Bavarian rivals Nurnberg, Jupp Heynckes' men sit four points clear of Schalke at the top of the Bundesliga table.
I imagine, any team that outpossess them would make them really suffer because they forgot how to run without the ball

How are they planning to beat the likes of Barca then?

Which is why it's funny to suggest Bayern can beat us

Really, only the BPL and Serie A are competitive leagues. The others are one horse or two horse races. In both BPL and Serie A there are 10 clubs that can win the league. In the other two there are three teams total that can win.

Re: Bayern are lazy...
True but Barca are still so vulnerable at set pieces and Bayern have Robben (foul machine) and Godmez on their team. So there is still hope.

That's because the teams in those leagues are equally bad.

Re: Bayern are lazy...
Also a league being competitive is not a sure sign of actual quality teams. The Sunday league I play in is pretty close but none of us are going to conquer Europe.

The Bundesliga and Serie A are by far the most competitive leagues throughout the table.

Re: Bayern are lazy...
There's a difference between lazy play and strategic play. If Bayern were lazy, then they wouldn't have conceeded less than 5-ish goals by now.
It's a strategic play, Bayern Munich match against Mancity champions league is a case study. They run less and football do the talkings while the opponent run too much.
Why run like a headless chicken against teams like Nurmberg, Schalke, Hamburg etc, when you can just let the ball do the talking and save up the energy.
The only players that runs all day for us are Schweini, Ribery and Tymo, Ribery do the the offensive and creative running, Schweini open up, always available to pass to and Tymo do the destruction running and that is enough.

We'll just have to see how much they run when and if they do meet.

Re: Bayern are lazy...
The Bundesliga is competitive every 2 years. End of discussion
And when it's not, it's because Bayern are very damn good.
Anyways, Bayern have had incredible defensive shape and positioning this season, thus even while pressing they don't need to run too much. And when they have the ball, they can adapt Barcelona-esque van Gaal tactics and pretty much just play around with the ball.
It's great since we're limited in depth and this way our players don't tire.

Re: Bayern are lazy...
How competitive a league is isn't necessarily based upon point gaps between the two front runners - and certainly not half way through a season when those league figures can reverse in a single round - but also competition for European places and the ability of lower and mid-table teams to deal with financial inequality to compete with the best teams in their league on the pitch, even if they can't get the result necessarily.
Also might I ask what the actual disparity between Bayern Munich and the "hardest working" team in Germany is? Saying that they're the third worst in the Bundesliga doesn't mean much without the comparison of the actual figures. If it's slight, the positional argument holds well.
