This just in: Cabaye to Valencia and Banega to Real Madrid :coffee:

I honestly believe Cabaye is better than Banega no joke Smile

Also Hispano you were linked with Coloccini in the summer you wouldnt want him?

a fit Ben Arfa would probably get into Valencia's team aswell imo but thats about it....

We do have good players tbh, but our full backs ( barring Santon) and Wingers ( barring Marveaux) are utter trash and then theres the back up in anywhere apart from in midfield......

The only this that is 'lol' is you comparing Benzema to one of the best (for me the best) players ever. Who was the best player in the world when he was 20, won 2 world cups and won everything else except for a UCL (Carlos Queiroz's fault). If Benzema destroyed Man U then why did Man U knock them out? He only scored 1 goal, that is not destroying, Ronaldo destroyed them with a hat-trick at Old Trafford. He didn't destroy Fiorentina either, he didn't even score past them. They both won a game 1-0 but Benzema didn't score.

So he did well at Lyon, when Lyon were the best team in Ligue 1 by far and nobody could touch them. It's like what Hernandez is doing with Man United now, he's not suddenly turned into an amazing player it's just that he plays for the best team in the league that create dozens of chances for him each game.

Benzema was pretty bad in his first season for Madrid, scored a fair few last season although he still misses too many chances and only scores tap ins and simple goals and never shows a bit of magic when his team needs it to break a tight game. With the chances Ozil, Ronaldo and Di Maria make for him he should score much more than he does.

But yeah, obviously he is worth of comparisons with Ronaldo, who single handedly won countless games for Barca, Inter, Real and Brazil. Who won World Player of the Year 3 times, who is the all time leading World Cup goalscorer, who was the worlds best player at 20 and who consistently performed in the best leagues in the world despite terrible injuries.

Meanwhile Benzema isn't even the best striker at Real Madrid now and was dropped at the end of last season for Man City's 5th choice striker.

Worthy of comparisons to Ronaldo...yeah right.

No one in the world atm is not good enough to be compared to R9, but I can say that you don't even watch Benzema play if you think he can score only tap ins. Shocked

I actually watch him alot, I split my viewing pretty evenly between EPL, Serie A and La Liga. And I watch every Barca and Madrid game. Maybe saying only tap ins is a little harsh, but you rarely see him score a goal that makes you think wow, that was amazing. And he never produces a bit of magic in a tight game to win it, that is always left up to somebody else and for me he still misses to many chances. To be a world class players you have to take a high % of your chances and from time to time you have to produce a bit brilliance out of nothing and he doesn't do that.

There are a lot of examples tbh. Only bad things about him is his lack of threat in the air and his inconsistency.

How is it similar? What are you talking about? When do you see Benzema drop deep to receive the ball and beat player after play and slot it in? Never. When do you see him out run and out muscle a whole defence? Never. When do you see him drop deep and smash in a goal from 30 yards? Never.

If he modelled him game on R9's he did a terrible job. He play as much like R9 as L.Diarra plays like Zidane.

His pass to Ozil was hardly brilliant, Guti to Benzema was brilliant. And a hat trick against Ajax in this day and age isn't that impressive anymore, I didn't see the goals, what were they like?

The 1st one was the only decent one. The other 2 goals are routine goals for a striker playing for Madrid, nothing special. If you honestly think he is worthy of a comparison to R9 you need to be checked into a mental hospital.

Nice goals? Yes but nothing special. What the lone striker for the great Real Madrid should be doing and certainly not good enough to get him a comparison with R9.

I've also noticed that the people that I am debating with are all RM fans. Coincidence? I think not. I know he's your player but you surely cannot rate him that highly.

Worthy of comparisons to Ronaldo...yeah right.

smh benz style of play is similar to r9 cause benz himself idolized r9, thus made his game after him which is why he get the comparisons to r9

He play as much like R9 as L.Diarra plays like Zidane.

looks r9ish to me

dude, this little discussion is pointless... I will declare that his style of shooting is similar to Ronaldo, but not his overall play. You can see he tries to model some bits of his game off Ronaldo but he is not R9 re-incarnate.. the more you wish for it, the more disappointed you will be in the end. To me he lacks directness to be Ronaldo-esque, its not a bad thing, but he is slower and more calculating. Ronaldo was ruthless.

There are a lot of examples tbh. Only bad things about him is his lack of threat in the air and his inconsistency.

His pass to Ozil was hardly brilliant, Guti to Benzema was brilliant. And a hat trick against Ajax in this day and age isn't that impressive anymore, I didn't see the goals, what were they like?

His assist tp Ozil was superb mate. His hat trick vs Ajax were nice goals too.

Rate him as highly as what? I was proving you wrong that Benz actually does great things. Nothing special ey? what do you regard as special? Benz scored 26 goals last year with 9 assists I think only third to Ronaldo and Messi something like that.

Edit: this has nothing to do with r9.

You could say Benzema's too "European" to be Ronaldo.
