Re: Breaking Bad
- Spoiler:
- I think the beginning where he's trying to get into his house was pretty amazing...the graffiti on the wall shows he's been exposed as a meth lord and this obviously means his family (inc Hank and Marie) are either dead or in total disarray.
I wonder who he's trying to discreetly kill with the ricin considering he has a machine gun in his car...so much to get to in 7 episodes
And when Hank closed that garage you knew shit was about to go down

We have yet to find out who/what he was running from in the first part of season 5, in the very first episode when they showed that little in medias res.Amar wrote:

- Hank had figured it out anyway, it's not like Hank wasn't convinced. Hank punching Walt and calling him all kinds of explicit language would confirm that. Walt not confronting him would have just delayed the inevitable, at least Walt was able to confront him on his own terms.

Pls skyler tried to make the best of an impossible situation (albeit with plenty of bad calls for her as well). The hate is unreasonable.

Re: Breaking Bad
Hate is definitely not unreasonable. I don't even like how Walter gets on, but he doesn't have that annoying factor. She just gets under my skin...I would love to give her one of those "you're going to jail now uppercuts".

Re: Breaking Bad
I agree she tried to make the best of the situation, and I don't have as much of a problem with her actions in later seasons - if viewed in a vacuum.
But the way she reacted in the first season when Walt was diagnosed was the most selfish, self-centered, honestly despicable response I could imagine to a loved one in a difficult situation. Not once did she try to support him; from the very beginning when she told Hank and Marie before he was ready, her reaction to the cancer was about what SHE needed and how difficult HER life had become.
Her aggressive negativity towards him would only be justified if she was aware of things earlier than she was; with the level of information she had, none of her actions were warranted.
Not to mention her first instinct upon learning the truth was to run into the arms of a DIFFERENT criminal - I wouldn't have minded that one if it wasn't so hypocritical. Also, her refusal to consult Walt on later actions (like the IRS stuff) when she clearly needed his help led to numerous gaffes that could've been avoided.
In summary, she's hypocritical along with a vocal stance on her moral superiority; she's selfish and unempathetic; and she's fairly unintelligent, at least from a problem-solving point of view. I don't hate her for the way she's tried to work around Walt's criminality; I hate her for those flaws.

Re: Breaking Bad
While I'm nowhere near being Skyler's biggest fan, the hate on her sometimes is wayyyyyyyyy too much. I mean when people say they stopped watching the show because of her, keeps on and on hoping she dies a gruesome death, say she is the most annoying character in TV history that's just too much. Not talking about any of you by the way, I don't like her too.

The fact that she can make so many people hate her makes her a great actress in my eyes. Or maybe it's just that punchable annoying face

Re: Breaking Bad
Oh I think the actress has done an incredible job. It's clear this is how the character was written, and she's brought it to life and then some. It's just the character I despise.McAgger wrote:The fact that she can make so many people hate her makes her a great actress in my eyes. Or maybe it's just that punchable annoying face

Re: Breaking Bad
Agreed completely with Stevie about Skyler. I remember when Walt had the whole family over for a barbecue and he was going to tell them he had cancer and Skyler started crying in the most self-centered manner imaginable and blamed Walt for it thus ruining a moment of empathy for Walt. She said something like "ask him why I'm crying" and stormed away from the table.

Re: Breaking Bad
Nobody talking about tonight's episode?
Thought I'd leave this here. This is HILARIOUS, and completely legitimate.
- Spoiler:
- Being on team Walt, I'm actually starting to like Skyler for the first time in this series. She really is devoted to Walt.
But I don't understand why. She thought he was a monster and wanted the kids out not too long ago, what changed so quickly? I'm guessing after realizing Walt was in danger from his own family and that he has cancer changes things, but I was a bit skeptical of her sudden change. I guess she does fear for herself and her kids though, in the end...perhaps her devotion to Walt is inspired by her need and want to keep her immediate family with her.
Anyway, shit getting real fast. Another good episode, not quite up to the standards of last episode IMO but what Jesse does in the next episode will be very interesting. They've been keeping Jesse's story untangled with Walt/Skyler's so far.

Re: Breaking Bad
This episode was even better So freakin intense. Glued to the screen, I have no doubt in my mind that this season will surpass season 4.
- S5 E10:
- They are making Skyler devoted to Walt because to get rid of some of the ridiculous hate fans have for her. That way they can instead be shocked and sad when Walt inevitably kills her instead of cheering.

Eh? I doubt people come here without seeing the latest episode, at least it was like that in Walking Dead and GOT thread, no spolier tags for latest episode.

Re: Breaking Bad
- Spoiler:
- That episode ended too quickly. I think deep down Hank has other reasons for not disclosing the information about Walt to the DEA. Like maybe feeling sorry for Walt and because he's family etc.
