#AFC have agreed personal terms with Rugani and on their agenda a meeting with Juve to finalise a deal that could be a loan with an obligation to buy [@AlfredoPedulla]

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
By my count, going into the final day of the window, we have 2 incoming defender deals on the table, 2 players that we still need to sell (Mustafi, Elneny), and 2 outgoing loans (Smith Rowe, Nketiah). We have more time with outgoing players but England is the most easily accessible selling market. Tomorrow is going to have to be full of madness.
It's a bit strange that we haven't signed Tierney yet. The fact that we haven't bid for him again suggests that we may only sign him if we fail to bring in a CB...there's no clear reason that we couldn't have done that business earlier if it wasn't contingent on our signing of a CB.

David Luiz is among options Arsenal working on for centre-back - delicate but not for 1st time (see 31/01/18) #AFC keen. Kieran Tierney remains a target, Eddie Nketiah still deciding but likely Leeds, Alex Iwobi will happen IF Everton make suitable offer #EFC #LUFC #CFC #CelticFC

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
First, Iwobi. Everton have bid £25m + add ons, which Arsenal have turned down. They want closer to £40m, says Ornstein. John Cross says Emery sees Iwobi as a part of his plans and doesn't want a sale, but I imagine the club's not turning down £40m for him. No way. I like Iwobi, but unless they're convinced he's going to be great, or aren't sold on the kids, £40m would be great business. Sell and give the minutes to Nelson.
Next, the CB situation. Upamecano is being valued at £75m, last I looked, though other sources claim RB Leipzig want the full 100m release clause. Either way, it's looking like too expensive a deal to be done. Rugani links are dying down, since Juventus apparently want £40m for him or no deal, not even a loan. Now there's the Luiz links - clearly down to Plan C, but I guess he's better than Mustafi, maybe? And Arsenal and Chelsea have done a surprising amount of business together before, which may help a quick deal get done...
On Tierney: don't know what's happening, seems Arsenal are playing a game with Celtic, or maybe they're waiting for assurances about his fitness? Would be disappointing not to get the deal done though, tbh.
Sales-wise, Jenkinson is finally gone. £2m to Forest. Left a heartfelt farewell letter. Appreciate his love for the club. Elneny might be going to Galatasary on loan. Nobody really wants Mustafi. There's time for those deals to happen as long as they're being sold abroad.
Loans: Nketiah could be joining Leeds or Bristol City. Bristol City seem confident they've got him, but as Orny says, could be Leeds. Both are great destinations for him - Leeds have Bielsa, Bristol City has a good manager whose great with young players. Smith Rowe could go to Germany.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
On Iwobi: he's been improving a lot for us recently and can play as an attacking midfielder when we inevitably move on Ozil and Mkhi in the next couple of years. I'd prefer to keep him, but then again, I wouldn't be opposed if we can actually get a reasonably large fee for him. It would be nice to get well compensated for one of our fringe players and not only sell when nobody wants them anymore, as we so often do

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Emery has made a point of saying they only wanted their main targets this summer, but the CB situation is so bad right now they have to sign someone.
If Koscielny had stayed, then they can reasonably start the season with him and Papa, Holding to come back in September, and Mustafi as fourth choice. Then in Jan or next summer they can get who they really want (seems to be Upamecano, at this stage). But now, it's suddenly Chambers-Papa, Mustafi will get first team mins and Holding won't be back until September... that's perilous. Hence the late move for Upamecano, reigniting interest in Rugani and dusting off the old contacts book for Luiz.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It's just the case of Rugani or Luiz with him. I won't mind either.
Luiz is better than all of our CBs lol. Not bad for stop-gap.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Tierney should be complete tomorrow talks ongoing, Upamecano Arsenal trying to do a deal were he comes in 12 months if can’t do it by tomorrow, Smith-Rowe may go on loan there. Few loan options for CB if Arsenal want to..

Great deal.
8M is a lot better than the 20M that the article Jay had shared was suggesting. At 32 years of age, anything over 10m would be excessive.
He was still a class player, is great on the ball, and it's definitely not a foregone conclusion that the other guys we were in for are better players at this moment in time (except for Umtiti). Hopefully he can have a great year and our younger CBs step up as well, even if he isn't the long-term solution we were hoping for and there is risk involved.
