What is your take on Madrid's underwhelming transfer activities?

FUCK, I really wanted Mou back in Madrid. No offence to Madrid fans, just purely for banter reasons.

Found out as the most successful bald manager in the history of football? You've got Pep frothing at the mouth trying to achieve what Zizou did.

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
HUGE mistake by Zidane. He must have received the biggest pay cheque for a managerial role in history otherwise nobody in their right mind would want to coach Madrid right now, let alone Zidane with his incredible legacy as a player and coach.

There are only a few months left of the season, the state of the team can't get any worse, and it looks like he'll have some degree of free reign to sign top players in the summer. If anything, it can only go up from here. If he wanted to be found out, he'd accept the Chelsea job.. or simply stayed our coach at the start of the season

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
He's already done his deed. He cleaned up Benítez's season, won 3 Champions League titles for you. If he wanted to be at Madrid, why did he leave in the first place?Mr Nick09 wrote:only pussy managers think like that.
Something drastic must has changed in Madrid to convince him to come back. Either a humongous salary, a blank cheque to sign a few galácticos, or (most likely) both.
Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
it's probably because he did not have the power to turn over the squad and to continue dealing with CR.
Both conditions are now met.
Also his whole life is in Madrid, his kids and his wife live here and I suspect this played a part in his decision too.

This. So much this. He will obviously be given a free pass the rest of this season, despite the fact he knows the team inside and out. Next season the real fun starts though. But I do think that Flo has promised they're gonna drop a billy in the summer.

Madrid fans can't never win on this forum
Hire Zidane back: can't wait to watch him get exposed
Hire Mourinho back: he is gonna ruin madrid
Hire Pochettino: scrub never won a trophy
Etc..
There is a not a single coach we could have hire and not get crap about it

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
Zidane's a better appointment than those guys. I don't think there's really any better coach available. You have Zidane or Conte. TBH appointing anyone that isn't Mou should be a feeling akin to winning the CL.
I just also think that this second stint is going to go miserably.

He'll be fine. Meanwhile, you will be here next year justifying Scrubettino's failures and throwing Guardiola's players under the buys after yet another European exit, as is tradition.

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
Huge respect to Zidane. Unlike Pep, who always bolts to the next easiest job when there is a slight bit of pressure (Mourinho finally turning Madrid into a 100 point competitive machine, Bayern demanding CL results and not satisfied with league titles only that even a no one like Kovac can give them), Zidane isn't afraid of a complete rebuild job. There is no Ronaldo anymore and Benzema, Marcelo, Bale, Modric, Ramos have to be moved on within the next 1 or 2 years based on age, possibly Kroos as well based on performances. It's a really tough task. Huge respect to the bald Voodoo magician.

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
So the pain and suffering was so baaaaad in Madrid, that they convinced Zidane to come back. I excpect they will be signing, Mbappe, Neyamr, Hazard, deLigt, Kane, Sterling, Kimmich, Virgil, Pele, Maradona, George Best, di Stefano and whoever else they need to win again, cus that is how Real operate.

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
Hazard and Mbappé as the galáctico signings pls.
Followed by a good midfielder. I'd have recommended Paredes but he's gone to PSG. I assume he'll sign from Ligue 1.. Ndombele?
Oh and Isco is staying home lads

Nope, it doesn't. You're going to need massive help from referees too.

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
We all know Cristiano was behind all the success, not Zidane. With Modric phasing out and Kroos struggling to find form, this will be a massive challenge for the bald fraud.
Madrid played against Ajax like the always play (shitty) but without the Ronaldo factor and referee help they had no response.
This is a fact, not an opinion.

I'd take hexed, opposing goalkeepers over allegedly corrupt referees, any day.

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
Just wow, never thought he would come back so soon. Really thought he had so much luck last time round, so now we will get to see just how good he is, if he proves that he can rebuild the squad which he has to, and lead to them to anywhere near the success last time, he will definitely become a great legend also in management, hard job, especially whatever he does it will be compared with what happened last time. Interestingly though is to see what the club and the fans expect of him, more CL? Or to get the better of Barca domestically is more important? If he succeeds, and perhaps Messi eventually retires, could real go on an era of domination perhaps, or he will prove to be a 'fraud' and fired
So now we will see what kinda players he wants in/out and the style of football he wants. Will it be similar to last time? Or will he try n create something new now that he is able to completely get whatever players he wants basically.
The football world is just never boring

Re: [Serious] GL's Roundtable - The Real Madrid Edition
So funny and weird to see Zidane back in the job he just quit. Apart from a massive paycheck he must have been promised more than Hazard next summer. Wonder if any truth in the Neymar rumours... All eyes on Madrid in the summer.
