Pepe: Return unknown
James: Return unknown
Modric: Out for 2 weeks
Bale: Started light training
Carvajal: Out for a month
Marcelo: Out for a month
Ronaldo and Danilo: Most possibly out of the Copa tie

Possible line up:

Kiko
Lucas-Varane-Ramos-Nacho
Kova-Casemiro-Kroos
Isco-Morata-Asensio

Or we could start with a 442 and Benz-Morata up top but that's very risky

Tejero was impressive in his Copa debut a month ago and Abner was projected as a youth gem two years ago, but was injured most of last year.

I wouldn't start Tejero and I definitely wouldn't play that God forsaken 352 formation that made all apart from our defensive players look poor

I would start Isco in place of a winger to add a body into the midfield so that we can control that part of the pitch

I reckon it is time Zidane uses Coentrao. Literally don't have a choice at this point.

Did you not see him huffing and puffing when he came on against Granada?? Coentrao has gained at least 2 more stones since his injury. He needs a few games to shed them before we can trust him in a must win game.

Right now Lucas and Nacho are our best options

Yeah I saw his appearance but Nacho at RB and Coentrao at LB feels way more reliable than Lucas at RB. But I should relax on that one, Lucas would put in a good shift though I wonder about his effectiveness.

Coentrao not ready Doc, may never be!!!!

I understand it is a debate (for this game) between

3 CBs with Lucas and Kova as wing or laterals or

Ramos Varane at CB with Nacho and Lucas as laterals. Other possibility is Nacho on right and Tejero or Abner at left.

The interesting thing in my mind is what happens if Ronaldo doesn't go (has been reported today he has a small problem. They have to start Asensio and Lucas up front unless they play Morata for one of those two and since Isco is replacing Modric, they may not have Lucas available for the lateral spot.

The bench is going to be awfully thin for this game!!

Now Varane is out as a precaution.

Ronaldo is good to go, suddenly the mysterious Coentrao is on the list and someone I've never heard of Achraf! No Tejero or Abner.

Looks like lineup will be

casilla
Danilo or Lucas, Ramos, Nacho, Coentrao
Isco, Casemiro, Kroos
Lucas or Asensio, Benz, Ronaldo

With a very thin bench.

nothing other than inexperienced. We are in need of a comeback and it would be nice to have some impact subs. As it stands we don't really have any MF or defense subs (unless I'm forgetting someone) other than inexperience or Coentrao.

It could either be a brilliant plan or a disaster hmm

Marca says it 4-4-2 with Casemiro in as CB along with RAmos. NAcho on left and Danilo on right.

CHanges from before other than defense are Asensio on instead of Lucas, Benz in and not Morata.

I don't know if it's the formation, we just don't have the amount of players needed to make up a good formation. Too many key influencers are injured.

But yes, please take out Danilo- I would rather have a blank space there

Attack.

Celta are putting 5/6 players in between our midfield and attack. Even with penetrating runs of Kovacic opens up nothing because the attack is so damn stale. ZZ better make half time substitute. Put on Mariano or Morata who will at least make the CBs work. It's been too easy for them

Benzema and Ronaldo: by far the laziest frontline in Europe.

They need to be sold ASAP. I'm just sick and tired of defending with 7 men and attacking with static strikers who rely on the midfielders to do all the work for them.

Also, I see nothing special with Asensio. Absolutely nothing.

Danilo: the best RB in the world.
