Almost Official : Antoine Griezmann joins Atletico Madrid

A year later, he leaves anyway.

It was always a year to year thing... his release clause in every year of his new contract was 120 mil from July 1 to September 1.... and 200 mil otherwise.

So he could always leave if someone was willing to pay 120 mil during the summer transfer windows.

He wants to play for an elite team that plays good football. Sure he's tired of being the only true scoring threat on an underdog team that plays defensively.

Not sure why Madrid aren't trying to sign him... really wondering why. Hazard and Grizzy with Benzema in the middle would be more than fine. He defends too.

In fact, I wouldn't count Zidane out of this one, which is why I'm writing this.

According to Cadena Ser, Atlético found out this melt was preparing another documentary about leaving Atletico so they rushed the announcement he is leaving via that hostage like video on their official site. They didnt want to let him control the narrative again like last summer.

Other sources are saying Atletico are glad he is leaving lol

In other news, PSG have contacted his agent and they want to sign him. He made a commitment to barca and his wife wants to stay in Spain but he hasn't signed anything. PSG are gonna throw money at him

Atletico got his best years already, selling him for big bucks is very good for them. In fact it seems like even Morata has been scoring goals almost at the same pace as Griezmann. They'll be fine.

He's 28. His prime isn't over. 3 more year imo.

He'll suit PSG's policy of signing guys who can't actually improve their midfield or defense. I hope it happens.

Why does Messi agree to these signings? He needs runners, players who move away from the ball, not players who will move closer to him. Griezmann isn't really a 9 and I doubt Suarez is going to get benched even though he should be getting benched. We will probably see all three of them play together.

Building around Messi should be the easiest thing in football.

A reference point upfront who can pin the centrebacks and have the technical ability to link up with him.

Wingers who make constant inside and outside runs so he can find them with his passes.

Midfielders who can get the ball to him high up the pitch (line-breaking passes) so he doesn't drop deep (one of the midfielders being a donkey who can balance his movements and compensate for his laziness).

Imagine if he had someone like Mbappe as his LW, hell Barca should be going for someone like Sane rather than Griezmann.

This transfer makes absolutely no sense for Barca, from the moral pov as well as from the sporting pov. Unless they're aiming to sell Suarez which i'd be happy with but replacing him with a French melt is not ideal but I guess it plays to Barca's nature of being unlikeable cucks.

maybe i'm mistaken am i the only one here who thinks girezmann is a good player? i'd take him at madrid in a heartbeat
