Yeah and it's like Sarachan saw this happening and thought "Yedlin can handle it, he plays for Newcastle after all". FFS Mad

I guess what pissed me of the most is the same problem that we've had for generations....the lack of technical precision and general footballing IQ. The basic and fundamentals, if you will. Outside of the 3 you named, it was shocking to watch from everyone else. The new coach is going to have his work cut out for him.

Any idea who the new coach is going to be? Not David Moyes, I hope. Laughing

2018 has been my favourite year as an England supporter. We've made a lot of progress from Euro 2016.

Hopefully the players get healthy minutes at their clubs and keep developing before Euro 2020.

not sure if this was already posted here or somewhere before, but I found this interesting and illuminating from start to finish

However, when he makes the point about being outnumbered in midfield, he keeps talking about being up against those Spanish midfielder - I don't remember England actually facing Spain during that period?

England squad was announced a couple of days ago. It's whatever.

James Ward-Prowse has got a call-up to replace Loftus-Cheek (who pulled out). Callum Hudson-Odoi has gotten a call-up too. Shaw, Stones and Delph have pulled out. Maddison was left out for some reason.

We could see Sancho and Hudson-Odoi on both flanks at some point. hmm

As always, the England u21s have a cool team tonight:

Gunn - Kenny, Tomori, Kelly, Dasilva - Maddison, Dowell, Foden - Nelson, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman

Looks like a midfield three with Dowell holding and Foden and Maddison playing as attacking 8s. Nelson is on the left (playing on Foden's side so they can combine).

Foden already showing he's too good for this level.

Foden and Nelson have the ability for the senior team but they need consistent minutes before Southgate gives them the chance. He's understandably reluctant to reward young talents with senior caps so soon.

Maddison should be in the senior team regardless. Don't understand how Ward-Prowse has gotten called-up instead.

Really wish Lookman would force a move to a club like Leicester or Wolves. He'd be so good under Rodgers and Nuno santo

England aren't winning atm but it brings a tear to my watching some of our players be so comfortable in tight spaces and under pressure.

After watching Stuart Pearce play a midfield duo of Fabrice Muamba and Nigel Reo-Coker at a major youth tournament, I thought this day would never come.

England team to play Czech Republic:

Pickford - Walker, Keane, Magurie, Chilwell - Dier, Henderson - Sancho, Alli, Sterling - Kane

Obligatory expression of disgust at Dier-Henderson midfield partnership here.

Sterling 1-0. Sancho assist, of course.

I was just about to complain that our play had been to sloppy, and that players were taking far too many touches, but we put together a great move to finally break Czech Republic down.

Sterling hat-trick. Feel really happy for him because he's been treated poorly for a long time by the media and some England fans.

Hudson-Odoi is now on. Him and Sancho are playing together for England for the first time since they won the U17 World Cup together. Once Foden gets his call-up, that'll be three members of that squad who have progressed to the first team.

England team to play Montenegro:

Pickford - Walker, Keane, Maguire, Rose - Rice, Alli, Barkley - Hudson-Odoi, Kane, Sterling

Four changes from last time. Rose for Chilwell, Rice for Dier, Barkley for Henderson and Hudson-Odoi for Sancho.

Things are not great over there. They are denying admission to any English fans who bought tickets in the home area. But the thing is, they sold it to them knowing they were English fans...

Going to be really hostile tonight.

That's a pretty decent midfield.

Montenegro score with their first real attack of the game.

It's been a classic case of England having all of the ball and doing eff all with it.

Hudson-Odoi has struggled so far. Can't go forward and keeps playing it back to the defenders.

Extremely poor by Hudson-Odoi for that goal. Was beaten 3 times in the same play. You can tell he has no idea how to play at this level.
