Zep or Zi Matteo?

Zidane wins cl in his debut season.. Only a few like pep ,Di Matteo etc can boast such a record.

So is Zidane a tactically astute manager like pep who will become the best in the world in years to come or just another flash in the pan like Di Matteo ?

We never parked the bus Adit... we actually had more possession in every single game in CL. It's a crap comparison.

The world isn't black or white. There is more to the world of football than total football v ptb.

You realize that La Liga is in fact tough as hell.

Even a dysfunctional Valencia managed to beat Barcelona during that April.

Will wait until Zizou completes a full season before judging.

The losing streak started with the loss to Madrid from what I recall... it was the game that Barca's record home and overall winning streak was broken.

He's neither Pep nor Di Matteo. He's not a brilliant tactician but he's a good man manager. I think he has done enough for us to at least give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being, and I also think he hasn't done enough for us to believe he's a good tactician. So we'll have to wait I guess.

It's hard to judge him yet. I still can't rate him neither his tactical abilities or man management skills. The players respect him to death, but I think that's more based on his name rather than his ability.

I agree. He hasn't been long enough for us to accurately judge to which side of the spectrum he belongs.

Basically, he can either build an empire with Real Madrid or get fired by December next year. We'll see.

Actually i think they count more than the road to the final. I guess Barca, Villareal and Sevilla are tougher than City, Roma and Wolfsburg. Still need more time to form an opinion

Although Madrid's road to the finals was piss easy and they won the cup due to penalties, Zidane definitely deserves credit. Benitez would not have gotten them this far, that's for sure.

Zidane did what he needed to do. He reorganised the team, to their best qualities, and most importantly searched for balance rather than playing star names. Alongside him restructuring the team, the players bought into his ideas.  He didn't tinker with the team offensively because he really didn't need to. Attacking has always been more about the individuals working out the best solution rather than the coach telling them what to do. It isn't like defending where you can train how to cover spaces and all that.

He deserves credit for what he did this season. I guess next season the onus will be for him to establish an identity at Madrid, while maintaining results.

He couldn't have beaten Roma, Wolfsburg and Man City? i have a hard time believing that tbh. Once the final happens then anything can happen.

I'm pretty sure Roma, Wolfsburg and City are stronger than Neville's Valencia.

Everyone knows the CL and league are totally different, let's not compare them.

I don't need to list the amount of teams that have gone far or even won the CL while doing absolutely dogshit in the league because i'll be here all day.

Rafa would have easily gotten Madrid into the final based on tactics. However the problem was that the players lost all belief and confidence and they needed someone like Zidane to restore that. That's more or less the only difference between pre-zidane and zidane.

And ofcourse not playing Danilo as often.

You really think Benitez would not have been able to make it to the final with that line up? He had a good record in the CL group (5 1 0) and generally a very good record in that competition. I'm sure he wouldn't have had an issue with Roma, Wolfsburg and City.

You need actually get players play on the pitch not on the paper.

Because Wolfsburg and Roma are rubbish lol, i'd like to think most managers would beat them.
