Manga and Anime

Those are commonly regarded as Ghibli's best from what I've seen and heard from others.

Personally haven't seen half of their catalogue though, especially the older titles. I have heard the last few they put out were terrible though (When Marnie Was There & The Wind Rises) Don't plan on watching any of their older stuff either besides Ocean Waves sometime and finally finishing Grave of the Fireflies

Fireflies is painful watching, but easily the best Ghibli film IMO.

His directing style and artistic direction/influence has universal praise. I've never seen asahi or nikkei shimbun wax lyrical on his stories in particular. Also remember shows like Dragon Ball Z, which was(and is if you check out super) horrifically made, also has nearly majority praise. Stories are secondary for many of these type of shows.

Kissmanga also has an extremely big library. So, that's a plus.

Never heard of it till today. But the thing is, I don't want to buy dvds of anime seasons without giving them a go at first. If they are on Tv, i can easily record episodes or watch them on demand.

Was actually 2 chapters behind vinland saga.

How was the last chapter underwhelming? It was amazing. There had to be a resolution which would make Hilde look strong without making Thorfin look weak either. That was the best possible end to the fight. I just hope she joins the crew.

Author knows how to develop a character man. In just 6 chapters he created such an amazing character

Thorfinn did look weak though. He's bitch made nowadays. Grovelling for time to 'atone for his sins'. But w/e, I mostly had issue with Hilde's agreeing to go along with his request like that after living for revenge all this time and seeing her resolve shift over the course of 15 pages. Did not like the whole my father and master wouldn't want this cop out.

Would have liked to have seen Thorfinn or someone else take her out and force her to go along with them or something and see a more gradual change in her character over time (which is obviously still going to happen)..but  her character took a hit for me, just felt too rushed and unbelievable that her convictions would falter.

Crunchyroll seems to be a huge success. I've only used it once on my iPhone years ago, I know they have a free model but I read a press release recently that said they had 700,000 paying subs and 10m users.

This kind of model seems to be the future IMO, I know that a few manga publishers have started to adopt official digital scans available for like $5 a month or something (I think it was Shounen Jump US?)

if there was an officially licensed manga site (I don't know of any) like CrunchyRoll and they had a huge library with no ads, official scans/trans,etc and a sensible subscription model (like <$10) per month or something I'd subscribe to support the mangaka

you guys will be happy to know I won't be trashing new One Piece chapters now

Let's be real. Thorfinn is never going to fight again unless something drastic happens. He has become a pacifist and is going to avoid conflict at all cost. Pre-crisis Thorfinn would have killed hilde within 2 chapters. Heck even Thorfinn now would have subdued her if he really wanted to. But he will go to any cost to take damage himself rather than hurt someone else.

I don't know where the author is going with his redemption arc, but i suspect there will be something huge when the squad finally reaches vinland. I have a feeling Prince Canute will take his army over there as well threatening Thorfinn's plans. And at that point Thorfinn will revert to his older self. I can't see him being a pacifist throughout the entire manga.

I agree about hilde though. It was kinda a cop out. But those type of things are well liked by the public so i guess he went with it. Maybe there is more to it in the next chapter.

Do Cruchyroll actually buy animes officially? If that money goes to the production etc then I don't mind paying for it. Just don't want to pay a private company who don't even have a decent library.

they're official so I imagine they own the licenses to air the anime, yeah
