Not even the best fight in that arc imo

Wait 'til you get to Arrancar/Hueco Mundo arcs

Also, i advise you skip the Bount arc (totally filler, but up to you)

Watched the first 7 episodes of one punch man. Wouldn't really say it's my type, but I've enjoyed it nonetheless.

loooooool can't imagine what it could be. It has a lot of mystery atm so probably some poor cop out.

Only 50-60 chapters so it won't take long to reach there

Can see why Bleach was so popular early on. Anime is seriously really good so far. Fights and the characters.

Although I hate the comedy in it. Specially when it's out of place and unneeded.

Wonder how bleach went to shit afterwards?

You'll know why later on RG

Also, i recommend you read the manga once you finish to see some of the other characters special abilities (The manga goes on after the HM arc), especially 1 person in particular (Most epic part IMO)

Manga and Anime - Page 3 Empty Re: Manga and Anime

On KBS a caller Kaoru(?. Not Nakamura) called in and just said Miyazaki might come back to make another animated feature. He apparently already has a short in the works too.

This has the makings of being the flop to finally make him walk away for good. He's always made boring films, but its gradually fell down the well. Kaza Tachinuu was absolutely absurd. Legitimately the last awful theater experience I had. Difference is he had the backing of Anime fans who viewed him as a god instead of a guy who made visually stunning snoozefests. Its changed now. He called Anime for sucking now, which it does, and alienated the people who worshipped him domestically and internationally. It will sell based on his name, but it will never make the big bucks again.

I definitely think Miyazaki is somewhat overrated, but that comes with the territory of being a pioneer in any industry

Very.

With him you will get imaginative designs, and nice animation, but the stories are always so awful. If my grandpa wasn't with me I would have seriously walked out of Kaza Tachinuu. It was a toxic mix of boredom, and outright absurdity that I could not believe what I was watching about half way through.

Spirited Away is standable, but thats about as far as it goes.

I mean he's a part of a great film company his commercial success helped create. You can't take that away from him, but look at the output.

Can you honestly say what he has made is better than what others from his studio have made? Something like Princess Kaguya for example?

Manga and Anime - Page 3 Empty Re: Manga and Anime

Miyazaki for me is one of the biggest personalities in the industry. His work is 'absurd' because he makes them like it. It's intentional and there is a certain taste behind it. I am not saying he is my favourite animated film maker, but some of his if not most of his work is pure genius. Castle in teh sky, Princess Mononoke, Ponyo and Spirited away are some of the all time greats and his work provided inspiration for hundreds of makers and studios.

He is big on style and has never cared of anything he doesn't believe in. Him saying Anime's are trash isn't that blasphemous. Anime quality since 2010 has been awful. There are about 10-15 in the last 5 years which can be considered genuinely good.

This is a very interesting statement. Are you speaking on absurdity of the design/animation, or the stories? A distinction should be made, and let me once again clarify I find his designs and animation beautiful and well done. The issue are the horribly crafted stories. Kaza Tachinuu is fresh in my mind so let me start there.

A fictional biography, also poorly written, about a man turns into some of the biggest groveling to right wing elements that has ever been shown in international theater. An Upperclass guy recruited by one of the largest companies in the nation isn't already arranged into marriage by his family/management falls for the purest most virginal yamato female, who in perfect duty, helps him create his "Masterpiece" before walking off to die in the woods like a dog. Exactly what her purpose was. This is poor writing it isn't a love story. It isn't historical, it isn't even heart warming. A disgusting show of how out of touch poor writers are they can't even bother to ask their own parents what a historical cultural affair of the time would look like.

I think you are on to something when you say he is big on style over substance, but thats just how some artists are, but I wouldnt underestimate how insular anime fans are. They circle around their own as shown around the time the government executed that scumbag that was in jail for killing those girls. If he made a new film it would definitely take a hit from those who feel hit by his comments.

Aso, as he himself mentioned, Anime itself only sucks now because it is catering to the hardcore element which would be the ones attacked by his statement due to the fact that the dead economy makes it harder for artists to take liberties with their work, and that type of behavior has been around ever since the Japanese economy died in the late 80's/ early 90's.
