Diego Costa vs. Daniel Sturridge

Who'd you think is a better striker and prefer for your team ...assuming both healthy ??

Sturridge without a doubt (and this has nothing to do with Costa's personality)

When he is fit, he is probably top 2 in the league alongside Aguero.

Better finisher, better hold up play, better at link up play, Decent passer, Great dribbler.


Really wish he played for us. We have everything at Arsenal to make him a regular 30 goals + striker. Obviously if he stays fit.

cant decide, very difficult choice imo.

Costa is vastly overrated. If officials continue to crack down on his antics he's only going to be less useful.

Sturridge easily. You may think I'm biased but honestly fit Sturridge is top 2 CF in the league.

Sturridge is the better player, but he has to improve on his fitness record starting now or otherwise you'd have to say Costa is more useful to his team.

Fit Sturridge means 16 goals in 20 games so yeah i go with that.

I would go with Diego Costa. Studge is technically stronger, a better dribbler and quicker but then Costa is stronger overall and in the air, a goal machine, better movement off the ball and proven at the highest level. I also find it useful that Costa can play in a one striker formation as well as partnered with another striker for which I am not sure about Sturridge.

But then Costa has looked awful this season and Sturridge can't stay fit. I guess when both are at their best I prefer Costa.

Sturridge was amazing in a partnership with Suarez. I don't know how you could possibly use that as a negative for him.

The only negative thing about him is injuries.

I'm talking about him playing as a lone striker, I know he had a successful partnership with Suarez.

I kid, of course I would be delighted to have Sturridge at Arsenal but then our standards are not that high.

Daniel Sturridge. All day.

Just a better player, emphasis on playing. Can make something out of nothing, dangerous in the 1 v 1, great finisher and a big threat to run in behind.

A little on the selfish side, even for a striker, but thats the only minor flaw I can really think of. He is a genuine 9, being robbed of his prime sadly.

Costa is just an over aggressive ape. I enjoyed him roughing up Ramos and Pepe, giving them a taste of their own medicine back in those days..but other than that, limited technically and spends so much time trying to get others in trouble it totally outshines his actual ability. Its a hard comparison because right now I am seeing Costa at his worst and Danny hasnt played in quite a while

Sturridge is the best striker in the league if he stays fit. Inb4 Aguero nut huggers.

Sturridge has it all to prove yet. He's had 1 1/2 class seasons so far and that was when Liverpool were at their best with Suarez taking away lots of attention upfront.

Note that this is a neutral statement. I'm not saying he is not good or anything, not even suspecting it. But comparing him to Agüero. I remember Agüero ripping us a new one as far back as the Rijkaard days. It's like he's been there for an eternity. Sturridge was sold in 2013 for peanuts by Chelsea while Chelsea were in dire need for a striker.

Except Sturridge averaged like a goal a game during Suarez time at the club when Suarez didn't play.

He has nothing to prove to anybody other than his ability to stay fit.

So he is a 1 goal per game striker?

No but he was when Suarez was at the club and didn't play Sturridge's rate went up not down.

He's always scored goals when ever he's been the starting CF, Suarez has absolutely nothing to do with it.

How many games are we talking about where Suarez wasn't playing?

More than enough lol.

Suarez missed 10 games when he bit Ivanovic.

Sturridge scored 11 goals in those 10 matches when Suarez was suspended.

He also played 1 match in the cup without Suarez which he scored 1 goal.

That's 12 goals in 11 games without Suarez. Other than suspensions Suarez was always playing so Daniel only played 11 games without him until he was sold.

Then when Suarez was sold, Sturridge started 14-15 season absolutely on fire, he played some amazing football for 3 games helping us single handedly beat Spurs and Soton and was our best player against City and then he was done injured for 6 months.

Then after 6 months he came back and scored 4 goals in 9 matches playing unfit trying to salvage our season. The injury issues rose again and he played through the pain but it kept getting worse so the club shut his season down and sent him off to America.

Until now that he's back and has 2 in 2 again still not fully match fit.

TL;DR - So he had 12 in 11 when he was fully fit. And 7 in 19 when he was injured/unfit and not playing 90 minutes at all. That's 19 goals in 30 without Suarez with an asterisk because of injuries and playing unfit.

Sturridge and not because I support Liverpool.

But the sad thing is, by the time both hangs up their boots, records/statistics would suggest Costa was a better player because he will have more games than Sturridge.
