It's not a bad idea but it clearly was an idea that was not part of his initial thoughts. In my own cynical point of view, I think after he saw us actually put down a good performance vs Redbull, he is now going with a 3 man backline. Don't mind we are only equipped for a 2 man backline for an entire season.

I expect another CB signing or at least a loan option.

I mean, Eriksen and De Beek cannot come soon enough tbh. And we really gave up Llorente to keep Valverde who does and/or brings nothing notable.

It still comes down to the midfield and corner defense.  Guys have too much time and space to pick the pass or cross.  Doesn't matter much who's defending the box when the guys making the final pass have so much freedom. We need to pressure the ball a WHOLE LOT better.

I do not know what exactly is Valverde's role at the moment. He isn't helping in attack nor is he covering anyone. He's just...there. Do I blame Zizou for that or is it on the young man? Just so confused at the moment.

I wouldn't say that. He helped strengthen Atletico by green lighting the sale of both Llorente and Hermoso. That's productivity right there. He also helped strengthen the resolve of the Utd board while chasing Pogba.

Marcelo has been excellent yet again. Too bad Nacho and the midfielders bar Casemiro have been rubbish. Varane is getting owned by Dzeko so badly. Militao poor on both goals. He needs to move to Marcelo's side ffs

It doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, as of yet, but I've been disappointed in Militao's performance so far. He's lost his marker more than I'm comfortable with, and hasn't timed his headers very well. Obviously, the rest of our defence haven't been good either.

In contrast, Man United's Wan Bissaka has looked like an absolute brick wall since pre-season. I'd never imagined he'd be as reliable defensively, as he has been. He must be a nightmare to play against. Never lets anything go past him.

I am aware of that They're both new, defensive acquisitions by their respective teams, and our RB has been a weak point for some time now. Regardless of their positions, from what I can tell so far, Wan Bissaka is much faster and looks substantially more solid 1v1.
