Ramos demands to leave Madrid

Danilo is a RB... Carvajal and Danilo competing is fine. They're both good. Danilo will have to beat Carvajal out and that's not a given at all.

is pepe varane partnership really good? as i recall, it's flaws all over.

Varane just needs to be given a permanent spot RCB or LCB (he's much better as a RCB).  It's far more complicated then it seems to change sides....  but doable.  Last year, he played RCB with Ramos and LCB with Pepe.  So he changed every other game.  Hard to find your marks and play great positional defense like that.  Madrid were taking his strengths away from him.

Also, having a pairing that play consistently together and learn how each plays is massively important...  constant change at CB is not a good thing unless you need to rest.

I don't care tbh, all i know is that no other player would get the benefit of the doubt and excuses that he does for why he's not the consensus best defender in the world all the time.

He's made mistakes as much as any other high profile defender, some of the shit Ramos and Pepe do you wouldn't even hear about with Varane but with Ramos and Pepe it's emphasised to be the millionth degree.

Absolutely hilarious how everything he could be criticized for is completely ignored or excuses are made up for and everything great he does is wanked over times a million.

Double standards are funny with certain defenders and he's one of them.

I hope this is true. I've said this many times before, but I'll say it again, Ramos is the best cb I've seen since Baresi. With him in our backline we can dream of the treble, no, we can dream of the quintuple. @mole once varane start playing every week then he can be judge fairly, i don't know where the idea of playing great, every few chance you get is legit cause its clearly not true, that goes for any player no matter who they are

He's played enough to be judged, sick of the inconsistent rating and double standards just because one player is liked and another isn't.

fair enough I see your point, from my point of view varane only really started making more criminal mistakes after his knee injury and add the lack of playing time it happens tbh, hopefully he goes back to being mr clean as a starter

On the flip side i'd argue there are a lot of defenders in the world who do perform above their talent and hype level but get no shine. That's my problem his performances as of now do not deserve the reputation he has where there's other defenders who do but no one respects them.

There's a huge inconsistency when it comes to CBs and how they are rated and intensely analyzed, for example i don't think Hummels is the best like a lot of you think i do but i do think he's unfairly criticized for making mistakes which other defenders make but don't get anywhere near the same levels of criticism.

I have never been a Barca fan particularly, i always liked watching them play up until it became boring a few years ago.

I can't tbh. Hummels was still included by many on here, certainly Mole, in the 'best CBs 2014' list although he had a terrible season, it's only a recent development GL has caught on to the years old news from Bundesliga that Hummels is continually struggling to reach his 2012 top form.

He's certainly not getting an especially rough treatment lol.

There are other examples of CBs who keep being criminally and absurdly underrated though
