Pique VS Ramos

Which ones the worst?

Ramos is worse and I'm Pique's biggest critic. Pique isn't record holder in red cards, doesn't elbow people non-stop (without weak Spanish refs he should have had even more red cards in his career) and he can actually defend aerially despite being the only aerial tower in the entire squad. Ramos made 3 errors that led to a goal from the total 4 conceded in this tie against Atletico. When is Pique THAT bad? He gets ocassionally owned against skilful players and his level dropped when the entire team stopped pressing and his main defensive partner became a midget defensive midfielder. Never as bad as Ramos though. Most of Barca's defensive issues were tactical post Pep era, not individual. Ramos on the other hand has countless individual brainfarts in Madrid's supposed best ever team.

Ramos is better just due to his offensive prowess. Neither can be relied on defensively as both have the tactical awareness of a 5-year old.... and egos where each believes he's Beckenbauer. To make things worse, the media in Spain empowers them to think as they do.

Ramos asked Madrid to sell him to Barca in Mou's last year. I hope to gawd that happens lol.

Pique has actually been quite decent after the 2nd month. I'd say one of LE's biggest accomplishments is to get him to play well again, although it could just be the added competition rather than just LE doing his magic.

I would rather have Pique if a gun was put to my head and I had to pick but I would rather have neither. This is coming from a guy whose club starts Evans!

Absolutely, in today's football you need defenders to contribute to the attacking phase and attackers to the defending phase. As long as Sergio Ramos doesn't just jump forward leaving holes in defence but advances only in set pieces I don't see how scoring effects his defending.

They're both unreliable and mistake-prone defenders, but at least Ramos make up for that with his goals.

If you compare stats from 08-09 (where pique actually became a starter) than

Ramos: 24 goals from 295 apps ( Excluding NT)
Pique: 23 goals from 283 apps  ( Exluding NT )



Id take pique out of the two, been actually playing quite well for last couple of months. What sways my decisions is that ramos is a hot head/rash, gets too many cards and gives away one too many pens.

Like against Bayern or Atletico in CL last year. Ramos has his retarded moments but he also has genius ones. Last year in CL he was fantastic for example, excluding his clutch goals.

He was also Spain's best and most consistent defender in their Golden era. Besides that, unlike Pique he is always giving 100% and has great leadership.
