I have not played it much (focusing on Far Cry 4) but I really liked it from what I played. It was basically Batman with swords which is not a bad thing at all.
It's not a bad thing as I said it's a good game but the mere idea that it's a fresh experience and a GOTY standard game is laughable

What do you think about Farcry 4? I got it from a cousin for christmas. Been loving it, so far. The music and the open world are great, there are tons of things to do that haven't gotten repetitive yet, and for some reason I'm very comfortable with aiming guns in this game - as opposed to in Advanced Warfare where I still feel like I'd struggle to hit a sleeping rhino unless it's up in my face. Moving your crosshair in Farcry 4 just feels very responsive and I love it!
I recently completed GTA 5 offline, and I was positively surprised by how well scripted the story is, and how they managed to make all 3 main characters pretty interesting. I haven't played a GTA game in many years, and I have to admit that I was sometimes frustrated by not knowing where to go next in order to advance the story. I figured it out eventually, and I have to say that, whether you like the game or not, there's no doubting that they put a lot of work into the details of it.
Everything from the amount of licensed songs on the radio stations, to random encounters and actions (based on time of day) that trigger small events and quests, and the various benefits you get from buying properties; they really payed attention to details. With that being said, there's still plenty of room to add more things to do in the game, outside of the main story. One thing I've always wanted in a GTA game, is being able to enter more buildings. The last GTA game I played was San Andreas, and the amount of buildings you can enter and do things in hasn't really improved much since that game. Oh, and Trevor is such a brilliant character Every time I switch to him, he's either lying naked in a dumpster, in the middle of provoking bodyguards/cops, or doing something funny.

Re: General Games Discussion
As M99 said, the thing is that this was a pretty weak year in gaming. At least the worst that I have been through. I didn't buy a single game , nothing really appealing to me other than maybe Dragon Age and Far Cry. the rest were just rent worthy stuff like Shadow of Mordor.

Don't get me wrong it's not a bad game, in fact it's a very good game. But this nonsense that it's GOTY standard and some fresh experience is laughable.
What does it actually do which hasn't been done better a million times before with Batman and Assassins Creed games? It's not even like it's better than those games, even the nemesis system has been vastly overhyped it's nice and all but the novelty soon wears thin.
It's basically an inferior Batman/AC game in a LOTR skin.
Said the same thing lol. Agreed 100%

Re: General Games Discussion
I finished The Last of Us today, and honestly, I think its the best game I've ever played. The way the gameplay and stroyline overlap so well, the way the game forces you to become emotionally attached to the characters and although at first I didnt like the ending, I'm starting to appreciate it a bit more now.

I have quite a few games to play in the mean time though so I'm hoping to get it even cheaper in a few months.

So you're picking up Euro Truck Simulator?
the €10 deal for the Game + Soundtrack is worth it for the music alone. Darren Korb is a God.
Anyone who loved pre-call of dutified FPS's should also pick up Wolfenstein.
I forgot honourable mentions in my top 5:
Divinity: Original Sin, Alien: Isolation, Metal Gear Rising and South Park: Stick of Truth
Despite people claiming it to be a lackluster year there were plenty of good games this year.

Re: General Games Discussion
First day I played SOM properly I had some pos captain that was a medium level, I 'killed him' he killed me coming back from the dead bah gawd, I 'killed him' again he came back to ambush me a much higher level whilst I was fighting some other captain and I had a showdown with him where I finally killed him for good lmao
It was f*cking epic, like a mini story in a game that wasn't supposed to happen. Made my blood boil the bastard.

Re: General Games Discussion
I got bored after the 3rd or 4th one, there was nothing special about it go here fight captain defeat him go to next one beat him.
It was extremely boring and not this dynamic experience that it was described as.
Didn't really get any enjoyment from it, it was like oh I killed another one? Meh that's nice I suppose.
You are too easily impressed lol, the gollum side missions were a lot more interesting.

Exactly. Similar thing happened to me. Like Skyrim it was my own story, there was nothing scripted about it. Love the Gollum missions as well. Love almost everything about the game.
My top 5
Dark Souls 2
Shadow Of Mordor
Titanfall
Far Cry 4
The Wolf Among Us
Have not played Dragon Age yet.

If Kill this dude then kill that dude is all you got out of the Nemesis system then I actually kinda feel sorry for you... Don't ever try Minecraft because I get the feeling you'd completely miss the point or my personal favorite in gaming over the past 10 years - Journey.

Re: General Games Discussion
That I'm supposed to fall for clearly PR driven nonsense? Yeah I suppose I am.
People just want it to be something they said so hard they actually believe it, if it worked how they said it would then fine but it doesn't.
Also if I wanted to create my own story or world I wouldn't be playing *bleep* games ffs and besides there is no story it's just a few lines of VO to make it seem interesting when it isn't.

Re: General Games Discussion
PR driven nonsense WTF is this I know some LOTR fans who I recommended the game to who had no idea of the Nemesis system or anything about the game and they all loved it. I did not know much about it either and I find it very well done. And it is impressive that the game can create your own unique story with a few voiceovers instead of a half an hour cutscene in this day and age. I don't see what is so overrated of a game giving you the opportunity to have your own unique dynamic experience.
We are easily impressed by SOM...says the guy who is impressed by mario kart 8
