What's worrying is that gaming industry as a whole is becoming heavily politicized. developers aren't independent anymore, if they don't include female protagonists in their games a horde of feminazis will attack them, if they don't have gay/lesbian characters in their games they'll get attacked by LGBT groups, if the game contains a torture scene it'll have to be removed. i don't understand why everything has to be so politically correct these days ? bad people will continue to do bad stuff regardless of whatever violent games exists or not.

Because according to *bleep* pieces of shit idiots who love to look for scapegoats, violence was nowhere to be found prior to the 90's when gaming took off and definintely no serial killers before the ps2 was released.

Instead of accepting that some people are messed up, and some peoples parents done a crap job, it's easier to blame entertainment.

What pisses me off the most is you see 15 year olds going on a GTA esque mini rampage somewhere in the world and the parents sit there like

"Johnny was a good kid etc etc"

Think I'll read/watch some reviews before I decide whether or not to purchase any future Final Fantasy games

I haven't played a proper FF game since the original Playstation console. FF X was a pretty good game, but it was completely different from it's predecessors.. and every game since that one has been god awful. No wonder Square Enix have been struggling financially during the past decade, or so; They've been churning out half-arsed games, many of which have had micro-transaction features, and they've certainly let down the faithful fans of the Final Fantasy series by taking away everything that once made the series among the most popular games in the world

Even if any of these Final Fantasy games turn out to be good, I highly doubt they'll be anything like the old FF games. They've obviously tried to compensate for these uninspired games by making sure that everything has been top notch in the graphics department, but evidently it hasn't worked for them, thus far.

I remember reading several years ago that the head of Square Enix responded to an overwhelming amount of requests for a FF-7 re-make by claiming that they had decided not to make one until the Final Fantasy series had gotten back on track. Hopefully, I won't have to borrow it from my grandkids.

FF13 was a disgrace, completely agreed. Their attempt on making FF14 was a massive failure till they had to relaunch it again. Their other games are not doing as well either.

I don't know why they diverted away from such a successful formula. FF4-FF10 were excellent. Great hits. Few of them being one of the greatest RPG games ever made

After that...

FF15 is promising. As long as it's nowhere near FF13, it will do well.

Well, that's the problem. A lot of people were saying that FF-13 would be awesome, because it had been such a long time since the last FF game that was up to par. Also, the trailers looked great and Square Enix intentionally made Lightning a mysterious main character, by not releasing a lot of information about her, and even changing her name during the development process. She turned out to have the personality of a rock And I don't even remember any of the other characters, so they probably weren't that great. I know there was a pink-haired sister and her boyfriend..

Why did they turn away from such a successful formula? It's most likely because their main writer, and probably the most talented individual working on their FF games decided to leave/got fired for a different company after they completed FF9. I read that he still contributed to the making of FF10, but somehow I don't see it. Although I enjoyed that game, the story wasn't that interesting in my opinion. I don't know why they didn't replace him with someone who knew how to write an interesting story. I guess people like that are had to come by these days

COD and Battlefield is coming out.

Yeh, bar Destiny, most of the other multiplayer games are the ones that usually come every year. FIFA, CoD, Battlefield etc.

The ratio for single player games compared to multiplayer is most likely higher, when instead it should be the same imo. Nowadays it's all about being online, social media etc.
