As reasonable as could be hoped from Samp I suppose. Let's hope for a great Dima game because he hasn't done much to earn this kind of faith lately.

I'm pretty sure Sampaoli is picking them based on performance in high altitude. Dybala, Icardi would die up there.

Dybala and Icardi to sub in is reasonable on that altitude. Just re-bet Peru +1 winnings on Ecuador +1. Could be as big as re-betting Portugal the whole Euro's.

Its the same team he played in Buenos Aires (no altitude).

Banega (he sucked) out for Enzo (Gago got injured) and Papu out for Salvio. The other 9 players are the same.

Don't understand how he justifies to himself freezing out Higuain, Dybala and Icardi but it's his job on the line...

At this point all I can do is get behind the team and wish for the best.

Also CB Garay, Rojo, and Agüero are all injured and would probably be starters.

Sampaoli knows what he's doing. This man won two Copa Americas in a row and would have knocked out Brazil in the World Cup if it was not for the bar post and his players choking in the shootouts. He played this squad in Buenos Aires to make them gel better. And it nearly worked, they were terribly unlucky to not win.

I am a Sampaoli fan but he has not been good for Argentina. He hasn't won any games in the qualifiers.

They failed to beat Venezuela and Peru at home, and Uruguay away. He should be doing a LOT better.

I mean, I think we can all agree that Argentina missed a lot of chances against Perú and Venezuela that we should not have missed. Maybe some of that is down to Samp not picking the right players, but ultimately it's down to the players themselves. Even Messi hit the post last match in a shot he usually would've made.

On average its still 3 games that Argentina should gotten more than 3 points out of. The coach has to get them in the right mentality aside from picking the right players too. The games were fairly far apart too, and in all of them you had these sort of problems.

Venezuela and Peru at home are not games that should be so close.

Never in the three decades of supporting Argentina I felt so relieved.

Question is, do they have a decent team to do decently in the World Cup??? It's just few months down the road, and the way they have fared in the qualifiers, they are going to be utter shambles in the WC.
