^Tagliafico and Peruzzi for FB though BC I thought they look promising. I agree on the playmaking CM though, we're dry on that. Lots of DMs and genuine CMs though fwiw.
We'll be using a counterattacking system for a long time lol

Football Enthusiast wrote:I’m not saying that your team played bad, actually they performed well since round of sixteen but I expected majestic and exuberant performance from the whole team and this certainly doesn’t mean having goals galore in every match.
And yes anything could have happened in the final, alas Pipita, Palacio missed. I can’t blame Messi for not scoring any goal after the group stage; if he plays in WC ’18 then I hope Argentina will have an all around strong team who won’t wait for only a single player’s performance to score goals.
My query is mainly getting opinions/comments on how La Albiceleste will perform in future, what about the domestic football, youth academy in Argentina and how will the potential players for the national team successfully continue the legacy of Kempes, Maradona, Valdano, Caniggia, Batistuta, Riquelme etc.
I’m from Bangladesh, a country in Asia and thank you for replying.
Same here! Most of the Bangladeshis are either Argentina or Brazil fan!

I am really not comfortable with the system we are playing. While I actually love counter attacking football and think this system suits the profile of our attacking players, I feel nervous and anxious at our defence that sits very deep and invites too much attacking pressure! We have relied so much on Demichelis and Romero making no silly mistakes
Possession football will give me much more confidence. What do you think?
And what clubs do these kids Tagliafico and Peruzzi play for? I have just heard their names for some time but never watched him.
And one more question. Who do you think will replace Mascherano in the future?

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
@BarrileteCosmico: We are sports loving nation. Your team have fair share of supporters alongside Brazil although the fan base for Deutschland is rapidly increasing since WC ’14.
Why would you say that you’ll have a worse team? Do you think that the potential players for the WC ’18 won’t be at their peak performance? And if you do then would you care to tell me why?
Argentina football team was considered to have the best attack but they were actually struggling to score. On the other hand their defense did well since round of sixteen. Argentina number 9 must not make further silly mistake that would cost the game and should be able to score flawless goals even in difficult situations. And why I’m thinking like this because I still remember those sad and teary eyes of Batistuta in WC ’02 to this day, and number 9 jersey of La Albiceleste symbolizes the greatness of such a clinical finisher.
And I’ve read that Sabella might leave coaching La Albiceleste, if this is true then who will be the next coach for them?

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
According to Ole, the AFA and Sabella have a meeting today to discuss whether Sabella will stay on or not. Possible successors include Simeone (not going to happen), Tata, or Ramon Diaz

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
Argentina’s new coach Gerardo Martino has communicated the call-ups for the friendly against Germany in Dusseldorf on September 3rd: a rematch of the Wolrd Cup final. Tevez has not been included, while Higuain, Palacio, Andujar, Campagnaro, Basanta and Alvarez are present. Here’s the full list:
Goalkeepers: Romero (Monaco), Andujar (Napoli).
Defenders: Zabaleta (Manchester City), Fernandez (Swansea), Garay (Zenit), Marcos Rojo (Manchester United), Campagnaro (Inter), Basanta (Fiorentina), Demichelis (Manchester City).
Midfielders: Mascherano (Barcelona), Di Maria (Real Madrid), Biglia (Lazio), Alvarez (Inter), Fernandez (Celta), Perez (Benfica).
Strikers: Messi (Barcellona), Aguero (Manchester City), Higuain (Napoli), Palacio (Inter), Lavezzi (Paris Saint Germain).
So, Tata changed nothing!

I think he's just doing this as an ode to see who goes and who stays. I would like to see how he lines them up though.

Their next competitive tournament is Copa America in June 2015. What sort of team do you guys expect by then.

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
I expected some fresh faces in attack and in midfield. Seen enough of Palacio. This maybe the time to see how good is Icardi. I also want Pastore and Lamela. I am expecting them to have good season this time. We also need someone to be as a backup of Zabaleta.

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
That group just became the 2nd best team in the world and you guys want changes already?
Tata is going to give that group a chance. If doesn't like what he sees he's going to tweak things around, but he very clearly wants to build on the project rather than start over his own. This is definitely the right way to go.

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
I really wonder if the Argentinian NT wouldn't be better off dropping Messi. Today's side for the friendly looked so much more of a unit without him. Some sides really are hampered by some big names that unbalance them (England and Portugal, too).

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
We didn't look better because Messi was not there, we looked better because Di Maria was there. Aguero and Lamela both offer just as much workrate as Messi and only a fraction of his talent.

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
I can only talk of the World Cup, but in the group stage, Last16. and QF, both Messi and di Maria were on the pitch together, but Argentina weren't half as convincing as today.

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
You mean in the R16 when Messi bailed us out, or when Di Maria won the R8 in the last minute by a Messi assist?
Anyways I only caught glimpses of the match but Germany did not have the same level of intensity, and why should they? They already won the match that mattered. That was probably the defining factor. But it's worth noting that in the WC final it was an even game we could have won, we had 3 clear chances we blew.
In any case, we are now world champions again! WHOOOOO!

Re: La Selección Argentina V.2
But that is the point - it was only one last gap goal, while for the most of the matches, Messi didn't really appear so overwhelming. (This is the big injustice when looking at strikers, btw - if they are invisible and score one decisive goal, they are the heroes, while a goalie can be perfect for 89 minutes and when he then lets in one goal, he is the loser).
As for today's (or rather yesterday's) Germany team - well, I guess the main problem was the fact that practically the whole defense was out and Höwedes suddenly was shifted to CB again. This might become a problem for Sunday, too.
As for the UWFC - dear me - on Sunday, we will face the undisputed leader of the all-time UWFC rankings, Scotland. This promises to become a disaster!

Gaitan? Now thats an intresting one.
Largely overlooked when in the form of his life a couple years ago, now he isnt so important to Benfica he is getting a chance.
