hmm how is pepe situation, he was important to Madrid side
I doubt Bayern start mandzukic again gotze and muller brought movement to the game and that means trouble ,they run between the lines and without mandzukic as target Madrid defend might make positioning errors .

I assume it's going to be a close tie, although I'd say Real to go through.

Arguments for Real:

- Their defensive work yesterday was top-notch, and they were able to distill a certain calmness to their game that's essential when playing big games, especially if Bayern start playing quicker football.

- Their counterattacks were deadly, although it could've been 3-0 after the first 45 minutes. Even a single away goal might prove decisive. If Bayern attack more, and they have to, this could bring them more space and time to impose their counter attacks. And if Bale/Ronaldo are in full fitness next week...

- No away goals for Bayern. Bayern's defense, mainly thanks to Pep's tinkering, is certainly weaker from the year before. And considering Bayern need to attack more, this will only open up the game for Real. I can't imagine Real not scoring at least once.

- Guardiola's tactics too transparent? Ancelotti played the perfect game tactically, and Dortmund crushed Bayern not too long ago with the same kind of energy that Real possess. Guardiola is often criticized for having no Plan B against a well-defending, cohesive team, and Real showed us yesterday that they are capable of being both cohesive defensively and quick and lethal in the attack, neither of which bode well for Bayern.

Arguments for Bayern:

- They only trail by a single goal and play at home. What they've lacked recently is the fast tempo that was there perhaps for the last 10 minutes yesterday. They've been slow and indecisive, at least to my eyes. Playing at home might resonate psychologically, meaning they'll perform with more energy before the home crowd.

In summary, I think the only way Bayern are going through is for Bayern is to up their speed and start crossing more and taking changes in the last third instead of trying to pass their way around. This is dangerous, I know, especially against Real, since if they lose the ball, Real counter so quickly. But is there any other chance? Real have the winning ticket since they know how to withhold them.

Yet, since this is a group of highly disciplined players (Real are, too, of course), I really think the psychological edge of playing at home should give them the extra strength to up their game.

Read an article on Yahoo which posed the question: Is BBC the best option for Madrid? Considering they've beaten Barca and Bayern in a space of one week and both times they went with either Ronaldo or Bale. Not both.

Then again, it might be what they need to go with in Germany given that Bayern need to score and they could put the tie further out of reach by getting an away goal themselves, Madrid.

If Bale is willing to put in a defensive shift we could play a 4-4-2 with Bale doing DiMaria's role. It could be better for us because we will have more speed with DiMaria, Bale and Ronaldo all in there together. It is all up to him of course. If Isco who was allergic to defending could come in a do a magnificent job then there should be no problem for a former LB.

This team is way better now ( obviously ) without their Ronaldo's dependencia.

No. Pepe is fine. He felt pain in his back thigh after Iker had kneed him while jumping up to punch the ball

He should be fine for the weekend but will probably be rested

I still think Pepe/Ramos will commit a mistake once Bayern start attacking properly. It's just yesterday Bayern barely attacked, so they weren't troubled. Hopefully Varane starts, but it's unlikely.

Pepe was spending more time lying on the gtound than standing up.

I can't believe Lahm kicked the ball out of bounds in the midst of a promising attack just because Pepe lay on the ground for a few seconds after he'd lost a challenge.

Pep may call him the most intelligent player, but that rather was idiotic.

Nope, no need to tinker with our CB pairing NOW. Even though Ramos and Pepe lack the cool and composure of a Varane, they should still be automatic first choice.

I think a lot of people equate Pepe's antics (which are few and far between this season) with his actual performance. He is clearly one of the better Big game defenders in the world, for both club and country. Ramos is, by habit, a yellow card magnet, but I think he will reign in his natural instincts for the second leg what with him being a booking away from missing the biggest club game of his life.
Plus, if the Madrid midfield can perform a repeat of the first leg performance, and Bayern are reduced to lumping random balls in the box, Pep - Ramos should have a comfortable night again. But that is a MIGHTY IF eco smile

If we're being honest, we don't stand a chance.

We've lost at the Bernabeu, and we'll lose in München.

Said this before. To become a legendary team, you have to defeat a competent Madrid team. Bayern have to attack now and win to show what they can do. Start Muller, Gotze and Martinez as a DM and Bayern have a chance.

Graham Hunter is unbelievable. It's like he doesn't hide his hate/bias

"Chelsea did a commendable job" rofl "the way Real Madrid played was a disgrace, but German fans want Bayern to play like that", I mean we only got 36% posession but still won

Last season Bayern got 37% posession and beat Barca 3-0 lol

This sums up Graham Hunter:

Favourite team(s): Barca and English Clubs and NT
Favourite coach: Pep Guardiola
Favourite player: Lionel Messi + any hyped up english scrub
Most hated team: Real Madrid
Most hated player: Ronaldo

Bayern announced on their website: "Welcome back, Thiago!

"The Spanish international has resumed training four weeks after suffering a partial ligament rupture in his right knee.

"Thiago completed two intensive sessions with fitness coach Thomas Wilhelmi on Saturday and Sunday.

"The plan is to increase intensity levels over the next few days. If all goes well the 23-year-old may be able to make an appearance in the run-in."
