Simeone is a liar:

"Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone has called La Liga "boring" and declared that there are only two teams that can hope to win it."

beats Real Madrid, gives Barca a very hard time.

I am coming to the conclusion already that, Madrid have twice now hired a coach for an objective (breaking up Barca dominance, now 10th European cup) rather than a philosophy or playing style.

And I wouldn't mind him winning La Liga either for a change actually. Think it would do a lot of good to the competition. Such a great display tonight. If they got the creative power to keep winning week in and week out weaker opposition too, why not. Go for it Simeone!

List of Real Madrid managers to not lose to Atleti in the league at home since 1999:

Carlos Queiroz
José Antonio Camacho
Mariano García Remón
Vanderlei Luxemburgo
Juan Ramón López Caro
Fabio Capello
Bernd Schuster
Juande Ramos
Manuel Pellegrini
José Mourinho

Simeone has built a great team that gives Barca and Real Madrid a very hard time. The only difference between the top 3 (!, yes I've said top 3) at this moment is Messi. This league will be lost or won in just a couple of games, I dont see either Barca or Atleti dropping that much points. For Real Madrid however there is a long way to go. The defense is really bad, pepe-ramos is horrible, no creativity (where is Ozil?), little to none pressing, no connection/chemistry between defense, midfield and the forwards. There were alot of long balls from the defense to Ronaldo in the first half, just horrible. Atleti has more hunger for the title then Barca and Madrid combined, they will go a long way.

I think Simeone's greatest attribute is that he has built a team. He is a great motivator and he has everyone believing in Atleti and giving 110% for the team. Atleti work as a single unit, they make it impossible for other teams to create clear opportunities and will out-aggress anyone. Doesn't make for the most attractive way to win, but it is a way to win.

every coach that joins madrid now needs to give instant results, so none will risk completely changing the style and approach of the team, wasting time improving them in different areas in order to create a unique philosophy, specially when stars go and stars come, with all the mess thats happening to the team doing what you said seems impossible...

this team needs laudrup, i think he can bring something new, instant results as well as stability, beautifull football and media silence...

This game also showed how useless Bale is in these types of games. He needs space, and whenever he gets closed down by two players he is worthless. In these type of games Isco needs to step up because he and Ronaldo are the only ones that can play in those small areas and do something, but they dont get good balls in because the midfield lacks creativity.

Its almost funny how, all the years of Atletico had much more talented players (Aguero, Torres, Forlan) and spent alot more cash...but none of those teams were anywhere near this one. Because this team, is actually a team.
