Chelsea 2013/14 Post-Season Mini-Tour & Pre-Season Thread

With the first off-season games less than a month away, an Official Thread for all post and pre season game discussion is in order

Post-Season

First up is the 2 game post-season mini-tour with Manchester City.


The first of the two games will take place in St. Louis, Missouri, 4 days after the last game of the Premier League season on Thursday the 23rd. The match will be hosted by baseball venue Busch Stadium:

The two clubs will then meet up again 2 days later on the 25th out East in New York to face off again in the historic Yankee Stadium, the site of last year's 1-1 preseason draw with PSG.

Both matches will be broadcast live on Chelsea TV at 1:30am and 10:30pm UK time respectively.

Pre-Season

The Blues will then make their way out East, to play a 3-game pre-season tour against 3 Asian XI's.




The first of the fixtures will be played against a Thailand All-Star XI on Wednesday, July the 17th at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok:

The lads then travel to Kuala Lumpur to face a Malaysia XI 4 days later on Sunday the 21st at the Shah Alam Stadium:

They'll then wrap up the trip with a visit to Jakarta, to face an Indonesia XI in the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Thursday the 25th, as we compete for the BNI Cup.

This will be Chelsea's 2nd trip to Asia in 3 years, after a successful tour there in 2011.






Chelsea's last preseason trip to Asia in 2011 culminated in winning the Barclay's Asia Trophy - the
highlight of AVB's tenure as manager...

As the chart indicates, all 5 games will be broadcast live on Chelsea TV as usual.


Personally, I'd like to see the youths be wheeled out for the most part as I think it's safe to say the first team have played MORE than enough games this season without being bothered by having to play 2 extra cash-cow farce matches.

I doubt even City will be using much of the first team with the long season just having finished and the Confed Cup still having to be played this summer.

Don't see why not. His loan ends on the last day of the PL season and I assume he'll be back in London in time to go. As for the others, the Championship season ends next weekend so they'll be back in plenty of time.
