Di stefano didnt actually get to compete for the world cup. I dont think crimson has a problem with messi being considered a "great", he seems to have a problem with him being the "best ever"

Exactly you can't be labeled best ever if your still playing that is pure common sense. A players career must finish first and then people can rate them. How would Somone determine if Somone is the best ever when a player has 10 years left in him around 10? He is the greatest player of our generation ( playing currently) but not an all time great. That will be determined when he retires.

The thread is not about him being best ever. It is about braking a record for his NT. So why try discredit this record, like you and some other RM fans try to for every other record? I mean most of us discuss his achievements here. The problem is that most of people say that Messi can be the living/ playing greatest if he wins something with NT. This record shows a step towards that, which obviously can't be right or true as he does not play for RM.

make no mistake about it, Messi winning a World cup with Argentina would be a living nightmare for a lot of folks. They'd be absolutely disgusted at the thought of having nothing left to pick at when it comes to the guy.

I'm not surprised he's doing so well now, he's always played really well for them, but he's in fine goal scoring form now under a proper coach. The previous shambles wasn't a surprise when you consider he was playing under two awful coaches who were only appointed because they were ex players.

They need to fix their defence, its still terrible. But if they don't and they crash out of the WC before the semi's the haters will be blaming their exit on the fact Messi didn't score 6 when the opposition put 5 past their crappy defence

Messi winning a world cup in Brazil would be legendary. The chances of that happening though are very slim.
