7 year old Kai

A BRITISH schoolboy joined in a kickabout near the Barcelona football stadium - and ended up being asked for trials with the European champions.

Kai Fifield, seven, saw a bunch of local kids playing after visiting the Nou Camp ground while on holiday with his dad.

After the game of five-a-side on a training field he discovered the lads were Spanish schoolboys being watched by scouts from the famed Barcelona youth academy. Left-winger Kai played so well they invited him for a formal trial the next day.

Stunned dad Delaney re-booked their flights to extend their hols by an extra day to give his lad the chance of a lifetime.

Link: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3676861/Brit-Kai-Fifield-lands-trial-for-Barca-on-hols.html#ixzz1RCeXPU4m

Now Kai, from Northampton, is waiting anxiously to see if he'll be joining his hero Lionel Messi on the Catalan giants' books.

Delaney, 38, said: "We didn't know who the lads were representing but Kai managed to get a game and held his own in a good standard. The game finished and I asked the boys who they played for.

"I was shocked when they said 'Barcelona'. As we were going a coach came up and said the last trial of the season for the September intake was the next day and could we come. I explained we were leaving tomorrow but they were persistent. So we cancelled the flights and I took him back."

Kai played in the trial on the first team training pitch and a Spanish coach described his performance as "very, very good".

Dad-of-five Delaney added: "Kai is a big Barcelona and Lionel Messi fan, he even said he'd play for them one day. He worked out that by the time Messi retires he'd be old enough to take his place.

"Every father would say this, but he is a fantastic player. He is small but very quick, has great passing and is unselfish. If he gets in we'll pack our bags and move tomorrow.

"You don't get a chance like this every day and it has come our way by complete chance."

Barça B start league campaign at Huesca

Barça B’s second consecutive season in the second division will start away to Huesca. Eusebio’s first home game as coach will be against Vila-real B.

The second division fixtures were announced along with the first division ones. New Barça B manager Eusebio Sacristán starts on the road at Huesca (August 21) and also ends away, at Xerez (June 3). The first game at the Miniestadi will be on August 27 or 28 against Vila-real B. Coincidentally, that’s the same week that the first teams of the two clubs will be meeting at the Camp Nou.

Barça B v Deportivo, September 11

The big games for next season include Barça B playing the three teams that have just been relegated from the top flight. The first of these is at the Miniestadi against Deportivo on September 11. A week later the B team travels to Alicante to face Hercules, and the first game with Almeria will be at the Miniestadi on December 11. Barça B face Hercules at the Mini on February 26.

First derby at home

The other attractive games for Barça B are the four Catalan derbies against Sabadell, Girona and Tarragona. All three are at the Miniestadi. Barça B v Sabadell is on October 2, Barça B v Nàstic is on October 30 and Barça B v Girona is on November 13.

Barca "B" Finishes 3rd in Segunda Division 2010-2011

FC Barcelona B, under Luis Enrique, despite some heavy losses this season, closes its season with style – By winning away from home, at the Teresa Rivero, against second-placed Rayo Vallecano (2-3), thus preventing the Madrid-based team from snatching Real Betis’s Segunda Division’s crown.

That win also saw the team successfully defend its third place in the standings, the best in Barca’s history for a reserve squad. Along with Betis, it is also the highest scoring team in the division, with 85 goals with Jonathan Soriano declared as the division’s top scorer with 32 goals.

- It seems that Etock (18, CF, Barca U-19) signed for chelsea a 4 year contract, Etock was a very promising talent, he came to Barca through Eto'o's foundation in the Cameroon when he was 12 years old! ( first player to come from cameroon foundation, which was created in 2006)...
Etock spent last season on the bench for Barca U-19 "team which won the Treble this season" becuz of Dongou (16, CF, Cameroon)!!
`Note: Etock who plays for Cameroon U-20, will spend next season on loan @ Sporting Lisbon (Portugal)!!
It will be a good move for Etock. With Dongou(16,CF,Barca U-19) around he would'nt have had much chance. Etock kind of stalled over the last season. Especially with the emergence of Dongou he didn't see a lot of minutes.

Gd Luck Smile

- Kieta Balde (16, Forward) signed for Lazio!!!
- Pol Busquets (17, GK) signed for Atletico Madrid!
- Aitor Ruano (LB) joins Atletico Madrid!!

- Other players who were released/left Barca: Carlos Castarnardo, Jesus Unzué, Jordi Masó!

- Cameroon youngsters Aboubacar Camara, Yanick Adamou, Nelson Mandela have been releasd from the club. Reason-Controversial, so won't explain.

-----------------------------

- Icardi (18, CF) from Juvenil A to Sampdoria, fee: 400K!
- Ceballos (19, CAM) from Juvenil A to Tottenham!

Barça B start work

The Barcelona reserve team started work on the 2011/12 season this Monday morning. Eusebio, on his first day on the job, divided the squad in two: some worked out on the pitch and the others took medical tests.

Eusebio Sacristán had his full squad at his disposal for the first time at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. On the first day back, they trained both in the morning and afternoon.

Two groups

At 10.00 am, eleven players appeared on the pitch in Sant Joan Despí: Bartra, Riverola, Romeu, Rosell, Dalmau, Saúl, Lobato, Oier, Masip, Sergi Roberto and Planas. A second block took the traditional start-of-season medical exams: Cuenca, Femenía, Gustavo, Soriano, Balliu, Espinosa, Miño, Montoya, Armando, Muniesa, Ilie, Carmona and Tello.

The roles were exchanged for the afternoon session. Four players were absent, namely Rafa Alcántara, Deulofeu and Sergi Gómez, who are playing for the Spain Under 19 squad, and Jonathan dos Santos, who has special permission to extend his vacations.

Tuesday in Navata

After the two sessions at the Ciutat Esportiva, Barça B will be travelling to l’Empordà to stay at the TorreMirona Golf&Spa Resort in Navata. They leave on Tuesday at midday and will train for the first time that afternoon in the place they will be staying from July 12 to July 18.

Eusebio: "We are working to bring in a forward"

The B team's coach said during the press conference after training that the Club is working to bring in an attacker.

Eusebio Sacristán confirmed on Wednesday that the B team needs a striker to face up to the season with the maximum possible guarantees. "We are looking for someone young who has the possibility in the future to move up to the first team" said Eusebio, who also made it clear that it could be someone "with more experience in the division".

"The primary objective is to educate players"
Eusebio also said that although the main task is to nurture the first team, he has not renounced equalling or bettering the team’s position the end of last season, despite the difficulty. "The goal of the reserve team is very clear, to continue educating players who can make the first team, but that doesn’t mean they we won’t fight for a good position in the league" said an ambitious Eusebio.

Own stamp
One area where more Eusebio has placed most emphasis these days has been tactical, as a he wants to put his "own stamp" on the team to show them how he views football. He also said that he is "very clear what Barça’s philosophy is" and that TorreMirona "is one of the best places to work because of the tranquility that it breathes".

Friday, first friendly
On Thursday the reserve team players will have a day off, but the next day, Friday, they’ll play their first preseason game against Escala, with kick-off at 19.00.

imo, if he takes his chance, he will do well!

He is now with Spain u-20, preparing for WC U-20 that will start in 31 July until 20 August.. so u can watch him & take a better idea about him ( he played for Spain u-17 & U-19 before & was great to)

This is an Old article ( about a 1 year ago about Alvarez) he seems a very promising Left Back, like Grimaldo?! Alvarez is now 15 & will be playing for Cadet A next season!

The Talent: Francisco Javier Álvarez Ferrer

The Talent is a new secction on my blog. Here will I present talents from the diffrent youth teams at FC Barcelona. I will chocie the once I belive can end up one day at the first team!

Francisco Javier Álvarez Ferrer

The first talent I will present for you is 13 year old Francisco Javier Álvarez Ferrer called “Fran”.

Fran was born on the 4:th september 1996 in Barcelona, at the age of 7 he joined the youngest Barca team.

Fran is current playing for Infantil A (U-14) as a left back.

Last season Fran really made a name for him self in spain. He then played for Infantil B a team that has become known as one of the best Barcelona youth teams ever, so don’t fotget the genertion of 96!

Infantil B won there league pretty easy last year and if not that was good they did it playing against boys one year older. They also won the burnette tornument that is the biggest tournament for 12 years old in Spain, Fran got namned the best player of the tournament and soon his he name was heard all over spain.

When Fran was 7 and played at the youngest team of Cusa La Granja in Santi Coch Torreforta he went to Barcelona to do take on the try outs. When Fran came they had alredy picked out the hole team and hadn’t place to sign anyone more. But Fran got to do the tests even if he wouldn’t get a place, but after he was done, the Barca coahes told his father that they had a place for a kid with those qualitys.

That Barca would lose this talent like they have lost others will not be a problem as his parents are happy to have there boy at Barca. “We’ve won the lottery. This is no time to talk about money and all that. We know that the boy can not be in a better place than at Barca. “

Thanks.

He is still 19, so is he ready? last Season @ 18, he played spanish super cup match against Sevilla Away ( 90 min) he was very gd, especially that match was his debut.. Physically, he is great, with very gd passing abilities..
imo, if he takes his chance, he will do well!

He is now with Spain u-20, preparing for WC U-20 that will start in 31 July until 20 August.. so u can watch him & take a better idea about him ( he played for Spain u-17 & U-19 before & was great to)

thanks for the info. the feeling in the Chelsea camp is he will be Mikel's back up and due to Mikel's inconsistancy I feel he'll get loads of game time. He'll start throughtout jan too as Mikel and Essien (if back) will be away at AFCON.

Are barca fans sad to see him go?

Yes.
I for one wanted him to stay.
He provides a physical aspect that our team lacks.
I think he will suite Chelsea’s game just fine.

The kid got potential

honestly, first time i heard about him was 2 weeks ago, that he will sign for Madrid, he was playing for Juvenil B last season, this is all i know about him..

Edit: i asked a Barca fan who follows Youth Teams regularly, this is what he said:
