A change has been applied to the Reputation System.

Hey guys and 2 gals (I think),

I'm making some changes to the rather controversial Reputation system here.

Unlimited reps are no more. This seems to be where the stem of the abuse of the system is coming from and so I am taking the first steps to eliminating it.

Instead, I am limiting reps to 10 per day. This means you can give 10 positive or negative reps per day.

If you exceed this limit, you will not be allowed to give rep until the next day.

This is the first change that I am implementing.

I am currently considering make at least 2 more in the near future depending on the desired results of this tweak. I'll let you all know more about that in the coming weeks.

Thanks a lot for making this change! The only problem i see is that it might be hard for people to remember how many reps they have given out in a day, they might give out 11 on accident.

EDIT: never mind, forgot you can see how many total you have given out under your profile

@ mole, It's 10 total, counting both positive and negative.

@gk77 - They'll be stopped after 10. They rep option the right will disappear.

I welcome it 100% . Good idea to restrict it, I'd go even as far as to let everyone vote 4-6 times per day

Nice to see some sanity has been set for this rep system.

Great change. This was really needed. Giancarlo was getting a neg rep in every single post he posted.

A bit late, I still can't use it because people spam neg repped me.

At least it shouldn't happen to others now...

Update:

Lurkers and guests will NOT be able to see or give rep unless they become members.

That's one setting I should've put in place from the get-go so I apologize for that, folks.
