Problem with that is that Bedoya has more of an engine that Zusi. He had the stamina to keep up with Ghana longer as Klinsmann knew we weren't going to see much of the ball in that game. Having Zusi in there wouldn't have helped us much. Bedoya was the right call honestly on that. For Portugal, we again needed an engine on that side of the pitch to keep their wingers and full-backs in check. With Zusi already on the other flank, it was down to Bedoya and Brad Davis...Bedoya wins out again because of his stamina. So despite him not adding much from an attacking perspective, he's a hell of a worker defensively and did his part in that phase of the game at least. If we were looking to attack more and hold the ball though, I would've probably went with Mix or Davis over Bedoya.

I would start Mix over Bradley against germany if I was Klinsmann.. All the chances his turnovers have lead too have been unnacceptable. Bradley just looks lost and unsure what to do with the ball when he gets it, and before he can make a decision he gets stripped and the break is on. Mix is a number 10 and will help generate more offense than Bradley can.

I agree that Mix is a pure #10 who really excels in unlocking defense. It might work with him if he has adequate defensive cover, but that means moving MB back and bumping one of Beckerman or Jones to the bench, something I don't think needs to happen. Problem with Mix is that he isn't the defensive presence that Bradley is. MB is truly complete in that he can do everything in midfield. Mix will try and he will give it his all, but he's just not the bulldog defensively that MB is. Add to that MB's ability on the ball and in the pass and he's going to start over Mix just about every time when fit and the match is important. I expect this to be the case against Germany.

I would've liked Mix to start over Jones in the Ghana/Portugal games, but I prefer Jones over him for a game like Germany

Also I think Bedoya has done his job, but doing a job might not be enough if we're up against it against Germ. I'd like Yedlin to feature again at some point for one of the wide players

I read that the US usually doesn't accept invitations to Copa America due to conflicts with MLS.  How will the 2016 tournament different?  Different scheduling?

Well it has started, there is already transfer talk surrounding Besler and Yedlin. Yedlin has been linked with a few Italian clubs and Anderlecht. Besler has been linked with Cardiff, QPR, and Southampton and a lot of undisclosed clubs. SKC owner Rob Heineman: "there is an enormous amount of interest" in Besler. "We've had tons of offers on him from all over the world."

Oh come on, BMG at least plays in the Europe league and is thus an upgrade to Hoffenheim. Moreover, Lucien Favre is definitely not the worst coach, either.

SI: Let's get this one out of the way for American fans. We've heard a lot about Gedion Zelalem. We've seen bits of him on YouTube. He is eligible to play for the United States national team if he acquires citizenship. And he's on your roster for the game on Saturday night against the New York Red Bulls. What can you tell us about him?

Wenger: He is a player with a good eye and good technique and is very agile. He has the ambition to find the ball on the field. So he's the kind of player who could be of use to the United States. He's in some ways the type of player the U.S. was missing in the World Cup.

He is potentially an international player, for sure. But the next two or three years he will have to show he has the mental qualities to fill that potential. That's what's at stake for him now. If he grows physically, since he's slim, and continues to develop his mentality, the potential is there for him to be a top professional player.

SI: Is the potential there for Gedion to play for Arsenal [first team]?

Wenger: Right now, I don’t think he's ready. I don't think he's ready in the next six months. Next season, I hope to say yes. But if things goes quicker than expected, maybe from January onwards. The American fans can see him play on Saturday night.

Gazidis: I don't know. If you speak to Gedion, it sounds like you're speaking to an American. And, certainly, when we found him, he was living in D.C. and thinking of himself as a young U.S. kid. But I don't know, that's a decision he has to make.

Wenger: He feels American. But who will he choose? I don't know. He's a product of modern society. More and more players, like him, have three national teams and have to choose one. Look at Algeria's World Cup team, 17 of 23 players were born in France.

He wanted to play for the US u-15's but he could only practice since he wasn't yet a citizen. But now he and his father are close to U.S. citizenship(maybe even accepted by now), that combined with him withdrawing from Germany u-17's looks pretty good for us.

Damn it. So he wants to play for the US instead of Germany?
