Borussia Mönchengladbach
Borussia VfL 1900 Mönchengladbach e.V.
Founded:1 August 1900
Nickname: Die Fohlen (the Foals)
Borussia Mönchengladbach are based in Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia. They currently play in the Bundesliga, the top league of German football. The club is one of Germany's most well-known, well-supported, and successful teams. Borussia Mönchengladbach have 75171 members (as of 2016/04/25) and thus are the fifth largest football club in Germany. The official club mascot is the foal Jünter, named for the famous Borussia player Günter Netzer. "Borussia" is a Latinized form of Prussia, a popular term in naming German clubs located within the former Kingdom of Prussia.
In the 70es, they were a force in Germany and Europe, with players like Günter Netzer, Berti Vogts, Jupp Heynckes, Herbert Wimmer, Wolfgang Kleff and many more, coached by legends like Hennes Weisweiler, Udo Latteck and Jupp Heynckes (after his playing career, obviously).
Then they took a deep slump, down to the 2nd Bundesliga even and when they reached the Bundesliga proper, they were always in danger of another relegation. After the first half of the season 2010/11, they only had 10 points and were stuck on the last place of the BL table. Fortunately, coach Michael Frontzeck was sacked on matchday 22 with BMG still lagging behind at 16 points with 32 goals for and 56 goals against.
After Lucien Favre took over, BMG started an amazing catch-up race that ended on matchday 34 with 36 points, 48 goals for and 65 goals against at place 16, allowing them to go into the relegation play-offs against the 3rd place of the 2nd Bundesliga, VfL Bochum, which they won 1:1, 1:0 to stay in the Bundesliga.
In the 2011/12 season, BMG managed a likewise amazing continuation of their run of the end of last season and reached the 4th place. After they lost to Dynamo Kiev in the CL qualification, BMG played in the Europa League in 2012/13, which they also reached in the season 2014/15. In the current season 2014/15, they reached the 3rd place of the BL and thus got into the CL group stage for 2015/16 for the first time.
The start into the 2015/16 season was dismal, though, and after losing the first 5 Bundesliga matches, Lucien Favre resigned to be replaced by temporary coach André Schubert (formerly BMG U23) for now. Due to the bad results in the 2016/17 Bundesliga Hinrunde, André Schubert then was replaced by Dieter Hecking on Dec 21 2016.

That's Dante how he's cult with the BMG fans (many even come to the matches with a Dante wig):
That's Dante after fulfilling his promise to cut his hair when BMG managed to win the relegation play-offs against Bochum and stayed in the Bundesliga after last season:
In an interview he stated that his kids were afraid when he got home as they didn't recognize him anymore XD

Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
I reported the post myself as supra posted a team info of BMG at 3:01 tonight while I posted my version at 3:00 - so suddenly there were two BMG threads here in the section. I thought that way I could notify an Admin the fastest to merge the two threads
Fortunately JD got online right thereafter and he took care of it right away, so now we have one nice BMG thread courtesy or both supra and me

How do u think they'll do in CL next year? Reus will be gone for sure, so that will kind of hurt they're chances. But at least they're defense will still be beasting.

Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Well, M'gladbach lose Reus und Neustädter, but they have a great youth academy and unearth frisch gems all the time (I have quite some hopes in Julian Korb, Alexander Ring and Havard Nordtveit). Patrick Herrmann, Marc-André ter Stegen were BMG II players not too far ago either.
I think they will go to the CL with a mix of hungry young players and experienced guys that still have something to prove - and Lucien Favre is just the man who has both a plan and gets the best of of the players. If you saw them play against Bayern or Schalke, you can imagine that they can be a danger to many sides with big names, even without Reus.

Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Today Borussia M'gladbach won 2:1 in K'lautern, but unfortunately they lost Patrick Herrmann due to a broken collarbone. Herrmann will miss for several weeks now. This is doubly sad as Joachim Löw wanted to call him up for the German NT friendly against France in about two weeks.

ter Stegen has to be taken to EUROs...He's been the best GK in Bundesliga, even better than Neuer this season.

Re: Borussia Mönchengladbach
Well, I recently saw an interview with Andy Köpke who said that currently the plans are to take Neuer, Wiese and Zieler to the Euro. Löw will continue to monitor the progress of other GKs anyway and decide his final squad in May.
Personally, I'd like to see Neuer, Zieler and ter Stegen for the Euro2012 squad.

I'm with you in your choices. Low would be crazy not to take the best choices available to him. ter Stegen has been by far the best GK in Bundesliga this season imo.

They need better strikers
All these draws lately have made me an unhappy bandwaggoneer.
Although Xhaka would be an extremely nice signing, oh yes. I'm still wondering who they'll replace Reus with.

Looks like the transfer of Granit Xhaka from FC Basel to BMG is through now, at least according to BILD. The transfer fee is an alleged 8.5 mio Euros.
