Draw against Espanyol Rage thread

Team played like shit. Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Cesc and Busquets giving away the ball too many times for their high standards. I think the System was right but the Players were just completely out of it. Puyol was on the slow side and was kind of responsible for the goal. Pique made some good challenges but he was also very slow.
I think Mascherano should have started or at least come on in the 2nd half for Puyol. But that's just me.

How often have we seen this.. Keita comes on-goal(s) get(s) scored against us. Terrible decision by Guardiola. He probably should have brought on Adriano for Cesc.

Everyone was just bad. Sanchez(who I'll get back to later) should have been more ruthless in front of goal. I could have counted 2-3 chances where shooting would have been the better option than just passing(he took the latter option).

The referee. Well, what can I say, two penalties not given(foul against Sanchez in the first half, hand ball near injury time in the 2nd half). I mean, the Espanyol players were just manhandling Sanchez all over the place and no protection was given.

I'M JUST SOOO PISSED. We just keeping dropping points when we have no reason to and HOPING madrid would do the same. Right now we are in a situation where even if we beat Madrid twice, we can still lose the league. Don't come with shit like "but Madrid can screw up". Of course they can, and so can we, and looking at all the probabilities, i would say we are more likely, considering our form away from home.
We don't want to leave the league in Madrid's hands, and I don't want to lose anything to them either.

You might say I'm harsh against the team coming from vacation and long tournament in December, but we have not been at the top of the La Liga table clear(after all games in hand etc.) for quite a while.

Adriano was warming up but of course Pep must put in his favourite humble Keita. Keita come in vs Arsenal = we lost, he came in vs Getafe = we lost, now we drew. Adriano should come in. Bad game, but at least humble Keita played some minutes, Pep is very happy now. We should also be happy that humble Keita played 5 minutes in this game. Who cares about results? Keita

Well he's not bad but he's not suited for our game very well, especially when he's used as someone physical in the midfield. He doesn't impose himself very well as he should. He's no Toure Yaya..that's for sure. Therefore, we(as Barca fans) see that he has no real use in the team and him being there essentially takes down to ten men(well thats a bit harsh I guess but w/e)

Before our goal, loads of chances created...after it, hardly anything.

Team played crap, dont care about the bad decisions by the ref, good performance and its over before any of that.

Nobody played well, not one player.

Dont think you can blame anyone really. I mean, we didnt control the game. When we control the game, they dont get the chances to make danger.

On the individual play, can put some blame on a few, probably Puyol mostly, but as I said, not controlling the game was the issue.

Football is like that. The guy who ran off Puyol can do it 10 times and only 1 will it land to him, which results in a goal, other 9 times nothing happens.

Control the game, they dont get as many chances do it.

It was a awful game for everyone. But one thing i hated the most, was that we were not even trying. I mean we got a goal, and then nothing, no real clear cut chances. As soon as they equalized, we animated and we took the game to their goal more aggressively. Not the first time Pep screws out this IMO. Barca is not good at defending 1 goal lead. Hell, we ain't good even when leading with 2. The only thing that works for us is attack 100% of time, or else this happens.

The away form this year makes me almost believe our title hopes are over. Another slip, and i will not be hoping for La Liga this year. I just hope CL and Copa go better.

Didn't watch the game but I'm not too worried. I'm still pretty confident we'll win the league in the end. These types of games are more anomalies than trends, if it were a trend it'd be something to worry about

Credit Espanyol though. They pressed well, bent the rules but never broke them, got the ball forward fast and kept themselves in the game giving them a chance to steal it at the end.

Unfortuantely its not something that can be explained easily.

Often the performances arent vastly different, but the results clearly are.

By now, its a mental problem, the players are very aware of it im sure.

I couldn't help feel that Pep is losing his touch... But these things happen. For me, we couldn't have played a strong side in the Copa. Everyone plays the bad game once in a while so not get to upset. We won the League and the CL last year. We'll win the Copa and CL this year.

It's as said a mental problem on away games...if we can get over our La Liga away game fear or whatever the hell it is, we can take the league easy.

Around minute 60 I said to my GF: if Keita comes in, we will tie this match in the final minutes. I know he was not at fault for the goal, but there must be a reason in why we always concede when he comes in to keep the score. Someone should pass the statistics to Pep, perhaps he would see the light.

Anyway, many things were wrong in this match. Our tactics were a complete disaster. The 3-4-3 worked terribly, but funnily enough, they scored on us after we changed to 433 and were controling the game more than at any other time in the match.

Many players played like crap. Messi was terrible. I doubt he was fit to play, cause he only sprinted once in the whole game. If he was fit, his attitude was shameful and deserves to be smacked. So I rather think he was not fit. But then again, if he can't run, he shouldn't have played.

Busquets, Xavi, Alexis were atrocious and Alves and Cesc too, besides the goal. Only Iniesta, Valdes and Pedro played well, and while not being great, I think Puyol, Abidal and Pique were ok and did what they could given the constant counterattacks. I'm starting to get tired of Alexis Sanchez playing over Pedro all the time. Except for a slightly better ball control, he doesn't have any attribute better than Pedro.

Anyway, the league is almost lost. We have a chance, but is getting thin.

In my opinion, we lacked attitude for this game. I really had a feeling we were happy with 0:1. It is like Pep is trying to conserve energy, but for what? Next game as far as i know is Copa, game and we have that more or less in our pocket.
It is only when they tied that we really looked for goal.

To me it is clear. We are not an Italian-type team who can score 1 or even 2 for that matter and keep the score throughout the game. And Pep makes this mistake thinking we can. I just feel, we cant keep the concentration for that long without going for goal.
