Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
There's the obligatory Rodallega rumour.
I don't mind Gourcuff on loan. If we get him playing well, then it's a great piece of business. If he turns out to be rubbish, well, we should have Wilshere back by then.
I'm almost certain somebody is leaving in January, purely because of these squad registration rules. We've maxed out our quota for non-homegrown players, haven't we?

We have no one on the left side that is any good, we need a left-back who is as good or better than sagna, and Gibbs, ans Santos are not even close.MJGunner wrote:Artilleristen wrote:I think Podolski is better, personally, but we need a left back, and a cam more than anything.MJGunner wrote:I don't see us landing Cavani even though I'd prefer him to any other striker we're linked with.
Cavani is younger and more aggressive, Podolski seems lazy to me sometimes but Podolski is still class and worth getting. We need a striker, then a fullback on emergency loan because we have 4 that'll come back and we don't need anything in midfield really especially with Wilshere returning.

Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to make a significant bid for Ac Milan striker Alexandre Pato after monitoring the Brazilian for the past six months.
The young forward was apparently offered to Arsenal back in 2007 but the Emirates Stadium boss, though interested, decided to pass on the former Internacional man but will now look to re-ignite his interest in the Serie A star.
Pato is no longer an automatic choice for boss Massimiliano Allegri and a move away from the San Siro seems eminently possible and indeed some sources have stated that the Rossoneri were angling to use the striker as makeweight in a deal to bring Carlos Tevez to the club.
The 22 year old Brazilian international has managed just three goals this term and strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho appear to be ahead of the youngster in the Ac Milan pecking order leaving Pato wondering about his future at the club.
Alexandre Pato is now in his fifth season at AC Milan and has thus far notched up a very healthy 60 goals from 137 appearances and would be a player many sides would like to get hold of if indeed Allegri was ready to sell.
Arsenal boss Wenger is looking to bring in strong attacking alternatives who can help share the goal-scoring burden with Robin Van Persie, who has had an excellent 2011. The Gunners manager may also feel that a successful move to sign such a high profile player may help persuade his club captain of the ambition the North London side possesses, which may in turn help to convince the Dutch international to put pen to paper on a new contract.
There has been a great deal of speculation that Van Persie could leave Arsenal with a number of sides said to be ready to take advantage of the fact that the former Feyenoord man has less than 18 months on his current contract to make an offer for the in form striker in the summer. A move to sign Pato may well be just what is needed to show the Arsenal skipper that the club does have ambitions, and funds, to once again challenge for major honours.
The need to bring in striking alternatives is fairly evident given that the club’s next top scorer, after Van Persie’s incredible 16 goal Premier League tally, has just three goals to their name (Gervinho, Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta all reaching that figure).
Arsenal are said to be ready to make an offer of around £23m for Pato who helpfully combines the club’s need for an effective striking option and Arsene Wenger’s keenness to build for the future.

Re: January Transfer Thread: Rumours and BS. Mostly BS.
Arsène Wenger says that he will use the Christmas period to decide whether to re-sign Club legend Thierry Henry.
Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer has been training with the Gunners during the MLS close season and could offer a short-term fix for Wenger when Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Wenger insists he has not yet made his mind up on Henry.
“That's why I have Christmas Day off - I have to think about that,” he said.
“Short-term is ideal for us, but I haven't made any enquiry yet. Thierry is not here at the moment. It has never come up in conversation!
“The first of January is the vital date for us. We have seven days to make decisions and I will make a decision in the next seven days on players.”
