He's the GOAT of his weight class and it's not close.
I won't speak about his fight and next opponent. Too afraid to jinx

I know whats gonna happen but I'm still surprised by how dominant Khabib is, unreal
Tony vs Khabib & Conor vs Poirer — make it happen

Absolute pro at kickboxing, crazily accurate, good takedown defense & head movement - whatever he's got, its definitely a recipe for the win
His rise to fame reminds me of Conor, remains to be seen whether his fall from grace will be as hard

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
It being at 170 lbs changes the game for Conor given he has had only two at 170 one of them being Diaz v McGregor 1.
Cowboy is the perfect return match for him given he is on a a steep decline after losing his chin and fighting too much in a span of a year and a win here should have him have the pressure off his back but if its a loss his career is basically done.
Should he win then Masvidal is the obvious one given both are targeting one another.
I see a difficult match for Conor given the size difference, and it will go to decision and if not then a possible upset for Conor himself unless we see a very sharp back to from McGregor.
Time to fly under the radar and accrue a string of wins from respectable opponents. Definitely fear for him more than I have given his general vulnerability now.
It will be a good fight beyond the fact both will be looking to just stand up but one left hook from Conor can knock Cerrone out whilst Conor will have to watch out for his roundhouses.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
It is interesting to see Conor this way.
I do feel it is the focus of his family life and what has seemed a stable wife who may have influenced him, his embarrassing last year and a half and what more do not mention, the humbling of Khabib.
Yes it is undeniable the Conor who walked into the ring in the Khabib grudge match was not the same. Slower, flat-footed and just less focused. The fire in his words influenced by possible cocaine use, alcohol and general mind games that were ham fisted as his match against Khabib. All of this truly did begin when his fame stepped up to another level post Alvarez defeat to which was followed up by the blight to boxing that was the Floyd v McGregor match.
Earning such paydays and letting the fame get to you does do that. Mike Tyson was not the same after it penetrated his head and Cus D'Amato was not there to balance him, same happened with Conor who does have yes men on his team despite Kavanaugh being a fantastic coach.
The truth I see it as is that he is seething inside at himself but is more himself himself these days realising he does not have to produce the front he has displayed for years, to which got him the platform it did to get the fights he did, similar to Floyd in his career. It also is clear it is to avoid scrutiny after what was a very disappointing loss vs Khabib. It isn't vintage Conor but he retains his whit and surprising wisdom and this press conference was an example, to which was a fantastic display of sportsmanship and respect without it being boring.
I do hope it does not have him respect his opponent too much in the ring.
Ring rust may be a factor here but on the other hand Cerrone has been fighting too much and too hard at his age as while Conor is the favourite, Cowboy is the more complete fighter.
I do hope Conor wins that being said and whilst not a fanatic like Myestats, it would be nice to see the ones happy to see him lose for the sake of it, pipe down. He's only 31 to which remains young-ish for fighting years, time to shape up.

Re: MMA/UFC Thread
As for the fight itself it is simpler than one would make it out to be. If we see the old Conor, and Cowboy does not have his lack of head movement correct in what may be a typical early flurry of strikes by the Irishman, it will end in 1-2 rounds.
If it goes past that then I see Cerrone taking it given the American has outstanding cardio whilst cardio is Conor's worst trait by far.
McGregor is showing some new moves and approaches in training and his win will depend on his discipline as a whole to which he lacked against Khabib. For Cerrone it will be overwhelming him with his use and using his kicks. I do not buy the reasoning of grappling given Conor has very underrated defensive ground game and it is evident both prefer a stand up game against one another.

Smart move to start off with a jobber. Loved the aggressiveness though.
Hit him with some great shoulders and a great kick
