Is Rafa Benitez Underrated?

I personally think he's up there tactically with anyone and has practically won everything in Spain and England apart from the Premier League and was unlucky not to win that i felt......
His main problem is i dont think he's a great man manager but i think he's very underrated as a coach.

he's rated just fine by people who have a basic grasp of logic

Quite under rated. I didn't blame him for Liverpool's bad times before he left and I still don't.

Rafa would do wonders at any club if he has an assistant with supreme man managing skills. Tactically he's second to none.

Are you referring to Pako Ayesterian ? Always thought he was key to Liverpool's success at the time.

Great tournament coach, but was underwhelming in the league with Liverpool, IMO.
Let's all forget his Inter spell. Really needs to go back to Spain to earn his reputation back.

Under rated for me
The only manager who got liverpool within the touching distance of winning the first ever PL
They played good football as well, not to mention gerrard was a beast under him

Tactically fantastic. Masterminding All those victories at OT, SB (when it was actually a force), Bernabeu, Meazza, Camp Nou is an amazing achievement.
Not to mention, twice Nullifying and overcoming Mou in CL, in one of the most tactical battles of the decade, with largely cheaper and inferior players.
A fantastic human being as well....Of course he has his flaws too, for example, his stubborn-ness at times, and of course Athens final where I believe, he knows that too, was one of his darkest nights tactically. Great eye for Talent, and wanted to bring likes of Villa, Alves, etc all to Liverpool back in 2006 before they were big names, only to be denied by our boards', n more than 10M on a non-PL player strategy.
Bettered Wenger's league performances during his time in England despite Liverpool of 2004 (when he took over) was very very very very inferior to Arsenal of the same time.
Gave us fans some amazing, and fantastic memories, and will wish him the best and follow him with great interest.

And Inter are doing amazingly with him gone...eh.
A team absolutely spent, last season, loss of depth up front (Milito gone), so many injuries, and players who had lost their hunger. He was right from day one that team needs fresh faces, and I am sure Inter fans will admit it too. That's the Mourinho syndrome. Rafa, being Mou's biggest enemy, was an absolute idiot for taking that job, knowing players hated him from day one. I can't wait to read the man's autobiography when he speaks of all the under-the-scene stuff he had to deal with.

I can't say he did well with Inter, but he was not with them for a sufficient amount of time and he asked for specific signings coupled with the hangover from 09/10 it was destined to fail. Inter aren't exactly doing great without him even now.
